Default 997.2 LED tail lights help

Looking for some help on a LED taillamp part. I purchased a set of clear LED's from a member here for my 2011 7.2 RS. Problem is the connector is different and therefore doesn't fit on my car. The lamps came as promised, still in the new packaging and never installed, so I have no gripe with the seller as he was not aware they didn't fit.

The part number for the correct lamps is

997-044-900-07

https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/oem-parts/porsche-rear-light-clear-set-99704490007

The part number of the lamps I received are

997-631-993-03

https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/oem-parts/porsche-as-tail-lamp-99763199303

Anyone know which model these "as-tail-lamps' fit? And why the hell does Porsche make different connectors for the same stupid lamp?!?!? Grrrrrr........Thanks in advance.

Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure if this is the issue since you already have a 997.2, but when upgrading from 997.1 to 997.2 there is a slight modification to the connector that is required (see picture below). Maybe your situation is totally different.

Yes, similar problem. The tabs are different. Interesting approach to making them fit. I may end up doing that if I can’t source the correct connector. My concern there is whether the tab is necessary to secure the connection or will it end up being loose?

BTW, another member likely found the answer to why they are different. I probably have Euro spec lights. Connectors are apparently different but the internals are the same. Blinkers will flash yellow instead of red, but that doesn’t bother me. Still don’t know why Porsche decided to make the tabs different, though??

Problems solved.
I got it figured out thanks to the link member nwGTS on the 997 forum provided. I removed the backing piece from the lights (seven T20 torx screws for each light), disconnected what I'm guessing is the reverse light (2 more T20's), a few wires attached to the circuit board via a clip, and the all-important pin-connector (one T20 screw). Swapped them out between lights, and VOILA! It works. The only difference is the indicators are amber instead of red. Don't anticipate running into any issues with that unless some PO notices it and gives me a hard time. Now I have a set of red lights (with the Euro connectors that a swapped out from the clears) for sale if anyone is interested.

Hey Eddie, If I don't see a pic of your new clear setup on IG, please post one up here (too). Congrats on a easy harness swap solution.

Thanks. Will do. Haven't had a chance to snap a pic. Maybe I'll go out to the garage and do that now

Right on Ed. Saw it on IG too, but much better on my laptop big screen! Those tail lights look especially good on white imo.

Just an FYI...

For those who want the 997.2 LED Euro Tail Lights for the amber turn signals and wants to do it the right way you can use the following connector 6Q0-973-713-A 6 Way Sealed Female Connector 1.5 mm, 2-row, Coding II

Works on both Left and Right Tail Lights.
