This has turned into a bit of a saga! I sold the wing supports to FLT6SPD but upon receiving them and comparing them to his 3.8 supports he is 100% sure that my "4.0 supports" and his supports are identical. This doesn't make sense to me because the supports I am selling were ordered for the black 2011 RS 4.0 in my ad photo using the 4.0's VIN from Sunset Porsche in OR in Jan, 2014. FLT6SPD confirmed that the part numbers on the packages I shipped the supports in are the correct 4.0 part numbers. Below was my response to the situation:
I have since refunded FLT6SPD but now I have a pair of beautiful black wing supports for sale ....... but are they 3.8 or 4.0 spec???

I am at a loss. These were ordered for an RS 4.0 (black car in my photo) with the car's VIN from Suncoast or Sunset (can't recall off the top of my head) and were identical to the silver factory-installed uprights that came off the one-owner, low-milage 4.0 so everything was 100% correct when we did the swap. As you stated the part numbers on the packages are also correct so this is all very surprising. Did you put some type or alignment pins through all four mounting holes on your 3.8 upright and these black ones to compare? I appreciated that overlaid in the photos they look pretty much the same but I imagine the mounting holes would only be off very slightly to account for the small change in wing blade angle from the 3.8 to 4.0. If I was duped by the Porsche dealer and given 3.8 uprights in 4.0 packages I will absolutely take them back and refund you but I won't be as excited if I get them back and discover they are in fact the 4.0 parts but the difference was just hard to spot without taking measurement. Thoughts?

Today I got to the bottom of the mystery.
The popular belief was that Porsche changed the wing angle on the RS 4.0 by using different mounts but the difference in angle between a 3.8 and 4.0 is actually in the wing blade, the mounts are the same for all 2010 - 2011 GT3 RS models!
