Ahhh, so I should sell both my 964 Turbo (driving for last 15 yrs), as well as the 7.2GT3 that I bought this summer,... and might as well sell my 1968 396/375 Camaro Muncie 4-Speed that I've had for most my life too. Got it.

just kidding of course. just not into stereotyping that much.

Thanks for all the informative responses. My buddy decided to walk away after reading all the threads.

I'll definitely make sure I don't miss a shift on mine as it sure ruins the resale prospects

^^^ Also, I would suggest calling a shop like Kelly Moss or another like Team Supporter and grab their take. If you need a line, I’ve been working with Kelly Moss for the better part of 10yrs. They have broken apart more cases than 99.9% of the members here and know how long a Mezger in all capacities will hold in a situation such as yours.

Good luck and and do look at the 3.6RS. Not a bad 997 and can be had for not much more than 3.8 GT3 if you’re wise.

Id love to see an actual story where damage was done due to "overrevs". Most porsche engine builders laugh at how picky pcar collectors are.

You probably won't as most owners will refresh before the time is up due to blow by or lost compression in a cylinder. Which brings about more "in there" replaced/repaired items. It's not a matter of laughing, simply fatigue across reciprocating masses shortens life plain and simple when exacerbated in high/fast quantities. It's academic to say you're GTG in 50hrs+ as there is no specific point at which "X" rev will give "Y" issue. Like I said, talk to a Team or Shop Supporter and have their take.
