997 GT3 "coolant pipe fix"
So it all started with my water-pump making noise (see thread here: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...ing-noise.html) and somehow turned into the infamous "coolant pipe fix" project. My GT3 has about 38K miles so I'm trying to do as much as I can while the engine is out. I'm going document the whole process so I figured I'd start a new thread.
Here's what I have ordered thus far:

Ive had great service from Aspen Autosports - if you haven't checked them out yet. They handle lots of gt3’s.
good luck.

Do diff, guards is the way to go. As you are there ask them to check torque of the cam bolts and to mark them so you can check them yourself. There is a bigger torque number than oem that has been proven reliable, see if you find it, if so tell them to use that, if not, use the oem.
ohhhhb and get either an harmonic pulley from the 4.0 rs or get the one dundon sells to couple with the lwfw.

I'm doing almost exactly same thing
I spoke to a friend who is a tech at Porsche, he advised pulling fuel injectors and send them out to be professional cleaned and benchmark spray patterns. And to have intake cleaned.
We are going to do a leak down test to ascertain health of valves. If necessary may do valve adjustment or maybe valve job pending what leakdown indicates.

If you are doing the 4.0 Clutch Kit, Have them look at your cam bolts. The single mass flywheel can create some more vibration. Just do a search and you will see what I mean. a few places like TPC make a fix for this.
I had mine engine out and did BBI Welded fittings in Feb. I replaced every O Ring I could find. Because I did not want to get back in there to fix a 8 yr old o-ring later!

--Is your car a 3.8 or 3.6?
--There are no valves to adjust on these cars!??! Porsche moved to hydraulic lifters on the 993
--If your car is a 3.8, checking the cam actuator bolts is good preventative measure. BBI and a few other shops have techniques and bolts available for this
--While the motor is apart replace all rubber and o-rings you can, this is good preventative maintenance
--while motor and trans are out of the car, inspect PS lines, fuel lines, drive shafts, electrical, etc for wear or issues.
--diff is nice to have for sure

Thanks guys! My car is a 3.6L. Just got off the phone w/ TPC and they said the 3.6L doesn't really require the cam bolts mod. Very unlikely I'll have any issues according the Tom over at TPC.

Replace all rubber coolant hoses! I did this when I had my engine out for new coolant pipes to be welded in. The rubber ages over time and those hoses will eventually fail. I saw this happen to a 997.2 GT3 RS at WGI just last weekend. A rubber hose failed, dropping coolant, and leading to a spin.

Agree, just had the motor dropped for new clutch and LWFW as well as tall of Sharkwerks elbows and was recommended that all the coolant hoses be replaced.
