Favorite Street Pads? Wanting strong cold/moderate temp bite, low dust
Just wondering what a few of the favorite compounds round these parts are for the steel brake system.
100% safe spirited street use.
Not driven to the point of fading so fade resistance is a much lower concern for these street pads.
Looking for something that will get a good bite and allow modulation at cold and moderate temps. Not expecting track-like temps.
Would very much like something with as low amount of dust as possible while not sacrificing stopping power.
Lower noise would be nice but not required.
No concern over pad/rotor wear.
I have frequently heard EBC Red recommended for this use. Also hear a lot of Pagid RS29 Yellow, but that seems to be a track-oriented compound.
Lots of recommendations for Hawk HPS, but not sure exactly which compound to go with here. I imagine Ceramic HPS will produce less dust but would have lower bite, correct?
I would very much appreciate any input from members who have used different compounds and can compare how they stack up. Thanks!

EBC Red suck.
Pagid rs29 require good amount of heat. Pending how fast you drive on back roads, these are good. Modulation is better with PFC.
IMO stay oem. Nothing you can do to meet your above needs in terms of little/no brake dust + performance, unless you go ceramic
If you don't mind brake dust- it opens a lot of options, from my experience.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm happy enough with the stock performance but it's just so unbelievably dusty. That's my biggest complaint. I know, just wash the wheels, but it's really pretty annoying to deal with and would like to avoid it as much as possible. It makes me love the CCBs on my 360CS all the more.

I'm going to need rear pads soon, and I'm leaning toward getting Textar. They're only $115 at Pelican, while the Porsche pads are $500. I'll be doing maybe 1-2 half track days per year, so I too am looking for a street pad.

Want good stopping power? Stopping power means friction, friction means material transfer, material transfer means dust for steel brakes.
Any thoughts on the Hawk HPS 5.0 pads?

Hawk HPS. I used to use them in my M3 as a street pad and they worked great in a street-only application, dust is much lighter gray than black and doesn't show nearly as badly as the OEM dust. They are street only...don't pretend to track them and you'll be fine.

Decided to go with the Hawk HPS 5.0 pads. Will give them a shot and see how it goes. Fortunately the pads are such a fast and easy change and they're so inexpensive that if it doesn't work out, it's an easy change. thanks for the input
