Default New battery

Been reading some posts about replacing battery before a bunch of things go wrong...when is a good time to replace it? I have original battery on 2011 997.2S from 2010.

Thanks

Like yesterday, seriously.

Otherwise, it will fail:

At night

In the rain

90 miles from anywhere

With your wife/girlfriend

Basically at the most inopportune moment. Then you get to play Let's Open the Frunk.

3-3.5 years, tops. Had a new Bosch fail at 8 months on a frequently driven car, so...

And get the biggest battery that you can fit in the battery tray and bolt down using the stock hardware.

The H7 sized Advance Auto Part's battery will work for you. Most battery brands (Advance Auto, Walmart, Interstate, etc) are actually made by Johnson Controls or Exide anyway. Be sure to get the AGM (advanced glass matrix) model. AGM works better with electronics.

The larger H8 battery will work too. It was an option in some markets and the battery tray will hold it. The tray has a hole to mount the bracket for the bigger battery but you'll have to supply a nut and bolt.

went with the AGM H7 from Advance....good job I replaced it...when they tested the Porsche battery it was reading less than 50% of the CCA. Thanks for the advice

I was hoping the battery was the reason my airbag light keeps coming on...I have reset it twice but about 30 miles later pops back on again. Read on one forum that a low voltage can trip the light but with a new battery that shouldn't be the case. Anyway the battery did need replacing...
