Default Video series from dealer tech perspective

Hey guys, I'm preparing to make a video series for my dealership from a technicians perspective. I was just curious if there were any jobs or services that you guys would want to watch see how they're done. Any and all input is welcome. Here is a VERY basic example of what you can expect. https://gopro.com/v/7Ra569ODaBBN Here I'm calibrating the LCA on a 15' base Cayenne. In the official videos you can expect more detail and explanation.

The plan is to show this service on every model and generation if there are key differences. Thank you for your input.

How to cycle the ABS and the clutch slave cylinder when changing brake fluid so you can get 'all' of it.

997.1 clutch and RMS replacement would be awesome, especially if it is done with the engine still in the car

The clutch job will absolutely be featured on as many variants as possible as well as the RMS. This can be done in the car. As far as the IMS on the 997, the engine case needs to be disassembled for replacement/upgrade. Thank you for your input!

Hey guys looking for some more input. So I submitted a teaser video and it's about 2.5mins long. I'm being told that is too long by a few of my co workers....I'm just curious how long is too long for you guys. From my point of view it shouldn't matter how long it is as long as I'm entertaining/engaging you guys in the content. Because I know I get bored with videos if there isn't some kind of hook or something interesting that keeps me wanting more. And that's what I'm going to put into these videos. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks

Ryan - Well produced 911 maintenance and repair videos will be welcomed by this crowd, for sure. I would start with all the basic maintenance procedures, and then move on to repairs, starting with the most common issues. I wouldn't say that 2.5 minutes is too long, but it depends on the procedure. Great video editing is key to a great video. For each step in the procedure, you will want to explain and show all of the relevant tools, parts, and methods, and all of the important things to be aware of. If you don't edit well, the viewer will be frustrated that you're wasting their time. If you cut too much out, the viewer won't be able to really see how it's done (for example, removing parts to get to the area that needs to be repaired, or locating where on the car that close-up of the repair was shot). Don't be afraid to accelerate parts of the procedure to run at 2x speed or faster, so people can see what's happening, but not have to wait too long. Take a look on YouTube at some of the other car repair channels, and you'll get a feel for who does it well (like EricTheCarGuy) and who drones on needlessly, or worse yet, leaves out critical info. Don't be afraid to add supplemental info, like tools and parts lists / links in the video description or elsewhere.

Ryan - I agree with TV911 on all his comments.

Specifically regarding 2.5 minutes being too long...I think I watched Larry over at AMMO NYC spend 18 minutes (at least) talk about how he washes his microfiber towels! In fact, I think I watched it twice ;-)

I am sure I will get some flack over that but the fact is that Larry makes very detailed yet watchable videos (IMHO). While his videos are about detailing a car, I think he does a great job of getting into the nitty-gritty without being boring and might be useful for you to watch to get ideas.

thanks!

Length all depends on how detailed the procedure being done is. Consider that the guys on Velocity that do the How To shows (Truck-U), GarageSquad, Overhaulin, etc do a 30 minute show primarily on one topic, but have to add in time for sponsors, commercials, new product discussions etc, that seems to be the proven time, but there are episodes of those shows where they gloss over some things that really wouldn't show you how to do it.

If these videos are going to be a How To, I'm not sure you can provide too much detail, close-ups, different angles when things get complicated, etc like doing every bolt on a sump plate in the proper sequence, not just showing the first one and then saying "tighten the rest the same way".

Being able to pause the videos as you're doing a job, then resume for the next step is great as it allows you to keep the content in the video moving, but still allow the DIYer to keep up.

Really looking forward to these.

Thank you all for your detailed input! I want to provide you with the most information I'm allowed. As far as editing I will not submit a video unless I feel an adequate amount of information has been given. I'm glad AMMO NYC was mentioned because I really enjoy his style of explanation. His style will definitely influence my own.
Granted, right now my job title is still just a technician. But I really want to pursue video and photo content for my dealership. BTW if you guys would like to see my photography work so far check out @loeberporsche or @porsche_tech788 on instagram, let me know what you think! Anyway I'm sitting down with the owner of my dealer next week to discuss our future video content and my involvement in it. I hope they see the value of these types of videos to keep people coming back and getting our name out there. Soon we are moving to downtown Chicago. The new building will be the biggest Porsche dealer in any city in the world, we should be known around the world. So wish me luck guys! What would you call a technician/special tool specialist/photographer/video producer/editor/detailer/give me any problem and I will fix it! Whatever that title is, that's what I am right now but only getting paid to be a tech. I hope this meeting changes that. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks again for all your input!

But not just a technician right? I want my efforts to be acknowledged. I'm not complacent with being just a technician my whole career. I'm doing everything I can to show them that.
