Help: Pagid RS29 too thick
Hey lads/ladies,
I'm doing a brake job today...new front rotors and pads. I replaced the rotor..looks good, but I can't seem to get the RS29s to fit in. They're just too thick! I've taken the anti-vibrating shim out and they still won't fit in. Are you supposed to run them without the shim? Are you supposed to face the pads before you install them?
How do you actually use these pads?
Thanks,
Tom

However...you do bring up a good point...I ordered part# U2474 and I got part# E2474. That being said Pagid is renaming their brake pads from RS29 to RSL29 so perhaps this is just the new version..(?)

U2474 is the correct shape for your front calipers. Pagid makes these 18.5mm thick. Performance Friction's pad for this caliper, PF7818 is 17mm thick. Hawk's version HB340.710 is 18mm thick.
Check the thickness of the pad (including the backing plate) and if it's thicker than 18.5mm then I would report this to the supplier you purchased the pads from and see if the others they have in stock are also too thick.
Kind regards,

Thanks guys,
I measured .782 inches (~18.49mm) so sounds like they're spot on from the manufacturer. They just don't want to fit...maybe I've got playskool calipers or something?
Is it normal to have to shave them?
