Building custom wheels - need advice on offset
**originally posed this in Wheel/Tire section, but also posting here due to more traffic...**
Hey Folks - hope someone who has previously had custom wheels made will be able to lend some advice.
I'm looking to put a moden take on the "80's turbofan" look which will require a deep concave wheel, no lip design. Porsche wheels naturally are high offset, but I want to lower the offset as much as possible w/o compromising drive-ability or pushing the wheel outside the fenders.
My car is the 2009 997.2 C2, "narrow body"
Stock specs are Front = 8"wide, ET+57, Rear = 11" wide, ET+67
A "wide-body" stock spec is 11", ET+51 Rear
1- Can anyone confirm that running "wide-body" rear wheels (11"ET+51) will not have clearance issues? I've seen before that they will work, but best to have a 2nd opinion..
2-Wheels I'm looking to build - 9"x19" front (ET57) and 11.5"or12" x 19" rear, ET+51
Tires I plan to run:
235 or 245/35 R19 up front
295/30/R19 or 305/30/R19 out back (but I've also been told a 285/35/R19 will give me what I want and help prevent rubbing)
Do I stand to gain more concaveness on the face of the wheel if I go with a 11.5" or 12" wide wheel over the standard 11"?
I'm on coilovers too, so I plan to get the wheel very close to the fender, which is also why I do not want the wheel sticking past the fender based on offset.
These are a wheel for the street, so I am not concerned about weight being more than stock, etc. I would like to stay on topic about the measurements.
Thank you everyone

Look up some of my recent posts in some wheel threads including the one where I installed Forgeline sc1 wheels on my 997 NB. Search both here and on 6speed to find all of them. Most of the posts have pics too.

Checking willtheyfit.com, your current plan isn't looking within the normally recommended specs front or rear (comparing to what they would be like as normal wheels using spacers).
On the rear, even with just 11.5" width wheels, it appears this would be the same as adding a 22.4mm spacer to a stock wheel. At 12" you get 6mm more than that.
Click this link for the 11.5" width setup change you called out:
http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=295&aspect=30&diameter=19&wheelwidth=11&offset=67&width2 =305&aspect2=30&wheel_size=19&wheel_width=11-5&offset2=51
On the front, it is about the same as adding a 12.7mm spacer. Again, check this link:
http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=235&aspect=35&diameter=19&wheelwidth=8&offset=57&width2= 245&aspect2=35&wheel_size=19&wheel_width=9&offset2=57
I'd recommend running your numbers through their calculator to see if what you are getting front and rear makes sense.

1. You will have no issues at all running WB offset on NB. There are tons of guys on here that run them. Including myself. Will they fit? 100% Yes. Would you like the look? It's all about preference. I like the flush/aggressive look.
2. 285's are too narrow for a 12 inch wheel. The tires will be stretched.

I agree with the width comment, I run 305s on an 11.5 wheel and that is fine. At 12" you should ideally go to 315s (305 minimum).

From experience we've gotten a flush to the fender setup with the following effective offsets (ET).
8.5 x ET48 and 11.0 x ET56. To go to an 11.5 in the back your ET would be about 63.
We have build a custom centerlock setup for our 997.2 C2S
