I had the pdk fluid replaced today at Matrix in Portland just to have a baseline with 49k on the clock. I asked the service guy what kind of issues they see with the pdk transmissions and he told me they don't.

Pretty phugged up statement right here man!!
Not the "Porsches should be manual" part...
Hoping my car fails and calling me / us a "bad driver" isn't cool.

lol I deal with it daily unfortunately. Been a cop for 13+ years. "Ignorance and stupidity" is common place all day long.
I understand the dude has his opinion on manual vs. automated manual PDK, but hoping for it to ruin values of our cars and assuming we're all bad drivers, is just not something I take kindly to.

I am in Europe and always rent the cheap mid size car knowing that if I ask for a VW they will almost always upgrade me to a Passat wagon with auto and GPS for no charge. I dreaded the idea of driving 3000km through Europe rowing gears. Doesn't matter to me what car it is, it's tedious.
When I see this thread title I really see "IMS" = "I'M Sorry.... I'M So envious of PDK"
Really though - the mods should have deleted this thread the day it was born.

The PDK has proven to be bulletproof. We had zero failures in all the track cars we built and maintained for years. But we service the hell out of them and add extra cooling, etc.
If you track the car, you can't observe the factory service intervals. Even if it's a DE, you have to service the car as if it's a race car. Sorry, in my experience, mixed use street/DE cars are not serviced as regularly as is required.
Bare minimum for street use, the factory service intervals need to be shortened. As I posted on this thread almost a year ago, I follow a two to three year or 24k and 36k for street cars whether it's a PDK, DSG, or automatic.
I'll go one step further and say bare minimum if you track your car, even DE, you have to change the transmission fluid once yearly.
We change the fluid every other track event and filter every second fluid change. Gear lube gets done every third event. Maybe overkill, but we had zero failures following this regimen.

On the 8th day god invented the PDK.
On the 9th day, he gave us Charles to explain it to us.
End of story.

Speaking of which... one of the best examples ever captured on video around Heel and Toe. I am certain there are others. Enjoy!

My 335I has the 6 speed manual. While I enjoy rowing the gears, I can't help comparing it to my PDK. It makes manual transmissions feel very old. I suppose there were lots of people moaning about how much better hand cranking was than electric starters, too.
