I'm restoring an abused 2007 997 back to life. While cleaning everything in the battery area I came across this unit that wasn't attached to anything. It seems someone had stuck it up under with the cabin filter. the wires from it, from what I can trace, run to the six CD changer.

Thoughts?

XM radio antenna or some sort of bluetooth adapter?

Hum, I hadn't thought of it as aftermarket. Think I'll trace the wires a little closer. They appear to lead into the frunk area to a very long bundle of wires that are stored beside the CD changer. Doesn't seem like the factory would leave that much extra wires. Thanks for the help!

GPS antenna. It mounts near the cabin filter under the windshield cowl by the battery with the wires routing to the navigation DVD in the frunk.

Wow thanks. I'll have to figure out why it came out. When I select Nav it says I don't have it. I'm wondering if my Durametric can tell tell me. The build sheet doesn't indicate I have it, it does look like it was added later.

There are some good photos in this thread showing where the optional nav unit and cd changer mount.
There are mounting differences based on model. I don't know the details but thought awd was different than rwd due to the extra stuff in the front of the car.

Post #15 is like my 997.1 C2S. The nav unit is in the lower right.

Turns out it is Sat. I was pressing the FM/AM button and on the third press behold I had integrated SAT! Little surprises .
