Good luck.... technically it is not hard... the two bolts into the engine are in there with low torque so there is no issue breaking them free.... really easy. "On paper", it is just two bolts. A tool I wished for was a really long pliers with a wide end to wrap around that lower bolt head... or a super flat ratchet. No ratchet wrench with an adapter and a Torx bit will work..... I just don't see that working.

Oh I forgot: TIP: The arm and engine block have a positioning hole where you can put a dowel into. I did this and it helped... then I pulled it out after I thought I had the bolt on the bottom threaded... wrong again.. then I just got medeivel on it.... I highly recommend putting a dowel into the block and sliding the arm onto the dowel and then not removing it.... now seat the bolts, now remove the dowel.

Peace

Thanks.

Karl.
I don't believe so. This is one were failure (or wear) is anecdotal. It happens but not often.

Depends if the lever bushing is seized - if you slacken off the tensioner does it spring back of it's own accord? if not you probably need the new arm, my local dealer told me today that they are on backorder and not sure when they will get them in ;-(

Hi Bruce,
Did you take chance, to also replace the Crank Pulley.
Our cars are passing the “decade age” and the Crank Pulley is a harmonic Pulley (for 997 mk2).
I would assume the “balancing” is a key, although many may say it’s “unnecessary” as it does not damage or warp or worn from “load”.

Hope to hear your opinion on this, as you are quite technically knowledgeable.

No I didn't. Never heard of it being an issue.

Btw, I am not knowledgeable... i am just a hack with tools.

Not sure if this is tensioner, pulley/s or water pump but I'll be getting a few parts replaced this Friday. Just a heads up, the lever part number has been updated once again.

It's now 0PB-903-308

Did a belt change about 1000 miles back and noticed my tensioner pivot bolt was very loose. I tightened then by hand as close to 17 ft lbs as possible , no way to get a torque wench in there. Today I had the air box off and noticed the same bolt is loose again. Should I just tighten more or is this a wear item that needs to be replaced, the tensioner snaps back properly.
