Default 981 vs 997.2

I have a 2005 987S and planning to upgrade. I believe I can sell my Boxster here in Portugal for 38.000€. Have to options:

2010 997.2 cabrio, 64.000kms, PSE, PASM,sport chrono,...72.000€
2013 981S 5900kms, sport chrono, PASM: 71.000€

Please tell me your ideas in terms of depreciation and feeling of the car.
I love the rev matching on the 981....

I have driven the Cayman, great car.

I have the 997.2 and I'm biased as the looks alone sell the 911 for me. To put it in perspective, I declined an allocation for the GT4 because I decided to keep my car. Not the financially prudent move, but tells you where my preference is.

I hate automatic rev matching in a manual car btw... I enjoy doing that myself.

Do you need the back seats? If no, then get a 981. Personally, I think 911 in cabriolet form is unattractive. The 981 Boxster was build as a convertible, the 911 is obviously not and it shows. The 981 looks quasi exotic. It's mid-engine, handles better, overall more fun to drive. I actually prefer to drive my 981 more than my 997.

Also the tech in the 981 is years ahead of the 997 if that matters to you.

I was was shopping a 997 vs 981 cayman. Loved the updated interior, nav in the gauges, cooled seats in the cayman.

With the 997 you pickup rear seats, iconic shape, ability for all wheel drive and ability for a sun roof.

I went went with a 997.

If you can afford a 911, buy a 911!

I think the 997 you mention is overpriced with regards to its mileage. Since you're in Portugal and already had a Boxster the 981 might be more suited to the handling and size needs in tight curves. With regards to the 997 you could also source one from Germany with plenty of choice and therefore more competitive pricing.
