Scared ****less - IMS Solution
#16
F911, I think we're referencing the same but there's the rest of the details I have,
"Engine (3.8) number up to M97/01 68509790 has the older IMS bearing and Engine number from M97/01 68509791 has the larger revised IMS.
The older IMS bearing can be replaced, this requires removing the transmission in order to get access to the bearing.
The larger IMS bearing can also be replaced but a tear down of the engine is required."
I don't want to mention the "other thing"? LOL!

I have a warranty for a few more years, if nothing blows before that, I will do IMS solution. Until then, I am enjoying it, but being wise with my oil, filters and warming up procedures

I did not understand what was funny ..
Right. There is information I took from Google. But the information I checked with my mechanic who works in a senior position at Porsche.
I'm not saying there's no risk. vice versa.
But, I still think (and it makes sense) that Porsche has improved the version of IMS. And as a result, less risk. In certain engines.

I think this is wrong info. I have a 10/04 build date M97/01 68504XXX that I am 99.9% convinced it is an "at risk" motor.
