Default Spark plug service, at what miles/age, how much it costs?

My mechanic told me I should change my spark plugs, as car's almost 10yrs old, and 30K miles.

Should I? If so, how much a typical service cost?

Thanks

The service intervals are documented in your owners manual. Most experienced Pcar owners use shorter intervals that Porsche recommends for many of these (eg motor oil, coolant changes).

There are two detailed DIY threads linked on this process along with commentary on what dealers charge in the sticky DIY thread up top of this forum. IIRC ~$1200.

Since plugs don't have a shelf life why the recommendation to change at age and not mileage?

Is it because of the potential for them to seize?

That is a good question... interested to hear others in the know....

However, as a rule, I don't question my owner's manual prescriptions... I do things earlier or more often but never defer anything. Just my cautious approach as I keep my cars until the wheels fly off... or the engine blows up.

Peace

if you drop the headers, which even on my back on the floor is a 30 minute process, then the plugs and coils are pretty easy. I'd be angry at a $1200 bill for just plugs. $500 sounds better.

I have only heard about it.. never happened to me. Not on my 997 but anything other than my turbo cars, I just go until it starts miss firing before I replace.

Surely not recommending that here but I have been 80,000 and 6-7 years with no issue.

I did the plugs on my 2005 at 31K, along with the main belt.
I bought the parts from Pelican and my Indy charged me around $350 for the labor.
