Default Did PASM come on all 7.2 'S's standard?

I commented on another thread, figured I'd ask since I searched this when purchasing the car I thought I had it. No big as the car is waaaay good without it, but as I grow into the car just thought I'd ask.

..C2S (2011) didn't come with PASM, 6spd. Was it only the PDK (S) that came with PASM or was maybe my car ordered without it? I had read, when doin my purchase research, that all 'S's had PASM. But suffice to say, I do not have it.

Does it show up on your option list. Send me your VIN and I'll get a build sheet for you.

Page 18 of the following press release about the .2 says...
The dampers on the Carrera S feature active control, as they are an integral part of that car's standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).
http://press.porsche.com/vehicles/09...Long_FINAL.pdf

As jhbrennan mentioned, share your VIN and we can list the options.

From what I can read too, the S had PASM standard, wasn't dependent on PDK or not. How did you determine you don't have PASM?

All S versions of the 997 (997.1 and 997.2) had PASM standard.

OP: Why do you say you do not have PASM? Do you have a button on the lower console with a damper icon (used to switch between PASM Normal and PASM Sport)? If you do not maybe the previous owner made some changes...

The lower switch says PSM, I've been told I don't have it, the other switches I've seen on the S's have said PASM. I'll post the vin tomorrow when I get back in the garage....thanx for the help so far....

They don't have the word "PASM" on the button. It's a shock/damper icon.

Who is telling you this? Look for the switch with the pictogram of a shock absorber on it.

The other way to confirm if your car has the PASM mechanism in the shock itself is to look for the PASM control line coming out of the top of the shocks. It is easiest to see on the front by removing the plastic cover under the hood (easily done, just snaps off) and look for the line coming out of the top center of the shock tower. I've borrowed a picture from Elephant Racing and added a green arrow at that line.

If you have that your car has PASM shocks. Then the only question would be why you don't have the button. If you don't have that line, then someone seems to have deleted the PASM option from your car's build or at least they removed the PASM shocks and the button. (The buttons can be cleanly deleted by buying another button panel for fairly cheap).

And as others have said, with the VIN the build sheet can be quickly grabbed and will answer the question as to whether it was there in the first place or not.

This one is really baffling me, and I have no stake in it. i can't imagine a delete option for pasm. The suspense is killing me. Is there a shock button? Does your engine have a 3.8 on it? I see 4 pipes but no badging. How is this possible?

I'm betting he has PASM or he does not have a 3.8S; the dual exhaust tips mean nothing.

Yes. Red calipers. Yes I have PASM. Just had one of those "son of a b__ch" moments.

Went on a Porsche drive last summer with some members from here and they all said I don't have it.

I have the " shock absorbers" icon. Just haven't made it that far in the manual, it's very exciting read.

Thanx for the input everybody, I appreciate it.....now I have to go use it, I've only had the Carr for 16 months....still lots to learn

I suggest you push the damper/shock icon when driving on a bumpy road to 'learn' what it does.

I know you have it figured out but here is my cheat sheet:
PSM=Porsche Stability Management - turn off if do not want computer help stabilizing the car by selecting PSM Off Button - Push again to re-engage.
PASM=Porsche Active Suspension Management - turn on to stiffen the suspension
Shock Icon Button
Simple as that.
Look up DSC by TPC racing too...you may enjoy that option for a PASM update.
