Default 50/50 coolant?

My coolant is just under the MIN level. Is the coolant concentrated or 50% water mix?

Any harm toppling off with water?

I don't mind buying a gallon for a small amount but it's a waste if I won't use the whole gallon.

I'm considering bringing it in for water pump replacement in the summer.

Thanks

Car holds more than 30 quarts of coolant. Adding a little bit of plain water will not have any effect at all on the concentration of coolant to water.

I hope this clears things up a little bit.

I have always used distilled water, just to eliminate any chance of mineral deposits. That being said, I agree, adding a little water won't hurt anything.

Are you guys from the devil? Plain water? I use double distilled, DI from fresh resin deionzers. No wonder you're getting bore scoring and IMS failures left and right...

Seriously though. Type of coolant is more important (don't want gelling). FWIW, I use 60/40 (water/coolant) since I don't have much freezing chance and the physical properties say I'll get better heat transfer.

In general - yes. Adding 6-8 oz of distilled water is perfectly fine.

Top it off with Distilled Water only - shouldn't take much.

Did you find the leak? Think that is the question to answer.
