Default Such a bummer...bent wheel on my S

Driving home last night doing about 80 on the freeway, hit what felt like a big seam in the pavement but with a very loud bang / crash through the suspension...Then immediate tire wobble. Pull off immediately into the first parking lot I could find, nearly completely flat by the time I parked it. Left it overnight, came back with compressor (no stock Porsche kit included from previous owner) and limped over to a tire shop in the morning to find the wheel was bent on the inner bead.

Sorry to hear that. Goon news is that driver is fine. Fixing sheet metal is easy. Your wheel if OEM could be repaired at reputable wheel shop with some heat and love. Get a spare tire kit.

Default Wheel repair/truing

I have had wheels on my BMW repaired/trued for about $140 each (Virginia prices, California may be different). You should be able to find a shop that can repair your wheel. It should be cheaper than getting a replacement.

Yeah hopefully repair is feasible. I'm also fortunate that my independent Porsche shop, HOUSE Automotive has me covered. They are spotting me a spare lobster for the time being so I could get the car home. Love those guys, super customer service.

To me, the right shop and a little heat and BFH.
A good wheel repair shop should be able to get that true again.
Not chipped or cracked. 1oo+ dollar away from being happy.
Kudos, for finding a tire shop with a loaner lobster!

The biggest a rim should be is 17"... these "hey look at me! I am a teenager!" - sized wheels with rubber band tires are just stupid.

I never bent a rim 40 years of driving and then "bang" on my 19"s.

Peace

eBay may also be a good source to pick up a good quality lobster fork wheel at a reasonable price.

Totally agree - I bought a 2017 Acura MDX as a DD this fall and it has 20" wheels - seriously? It rides 100% better on the 17" winter wheels and Blizzaks. Besides the 20" wheels they put on a Conti performance summer tire which I'm sure will wear out in 15,000 miles - but in the meantime is crap in the rain. Idiots.....

I don't mean to thread-jack here, but with a bent wheel I think it's relevant... will any 18" 911 wheel fit a 997 C2S? My BMW 330Ci ZHP had the 18" ZHP wheels, but I found that the car drove MUCH better on 17" - it actually felt more "eager" to turn. I wonder how the 911 would feel on 18s? Has anyone here done this for street use?
