Fabspeed forgot that the MAF needs to be plugged in when they designed that heat shield . Had the same issue on my 996 Comp. Intake. I couldn't find a better way to do it, it wont' reach the other way. The oil filler tube slot in the shield is also too far to the driver side.

OP: do you get any rub between the intake tube and the decklid fan? Be careful. I ended up trimming about 3/4" off the decklid to stop it.

No. Everything fits w/ no problems at all. I am extremely happy with the fit & quality of the intake.
