Mistery Switch (Noobie Q)
#2
That's not an OEM switch so a previous owner installed something in the car. It could be a remote starter bypass, laser shifter, radar detector, or something else. There is a torx screw in the carpet hole just above the swtich (T25? T30?). If you unscrew it you can remove the panel and trace the wires on the switch.

I have something similar for my ahem, lets say, parking assist. Yeah that's it. It beeps so I don't bump into cops.
I turn it on during shall we say, spirited drives.

Ejector seat.
if you don't feel like tracing the wires, you ban find the current draw at the fuses to help locate it.
Left on it may drain your battery, if its not switched. Report back.

That panel is easy to remove with a single Torx screw. The screw head is recessed in that little gap you can see in the photo about an inch above the switch. If you pull it off, or maybe just look behind it, you can take a look and see if you can trace the wires to the switch. It could also be a hardwired PSE switch to enable PSE 100% of the time (if you have that)... or not.
If you can tell us which way the wires go, we might be able to advise as to what it controls unless that becomes obvious when you trace it.

Thank you all. Actually no wires whatsoever connected to it, no loose ends, so whatever was connected there is no more... nothing noticeable on the fuse box. Filing under Area-51.

That's exactly where the bypass switch was installed for my Mobridge system in my 997. It looks very similar too.
