Mine definitely has a film on the sill, like the rock guards. I can feel the border with my fingernail and see where it's slightly peeling in a few spots. Maybe the first owner put it on but I doubt it. It didn't have a nose bra or any other non-stock additions. Strange. I never looked at other 997's to see what they have.

Pretty sure this was installed by Porsche...I think mine just needs repainting although now I'm thinking of adding the Rocker Panels from the aero kit

Got a quote from repair shop today...they want $1200 to sand down the area, apply stone guard and then respray...Techart or like rocker panels are going to cover it up

Ive had success with WD40. Spray, let sit then tooth brush. Repeat. Try to get the majority out then wipe on paint with a finger. Dr color chip has a good match.

So I think I have a solution for this...there is a product called Gravel Guard http://www.autobodydepot.com/DOM-SVG...Q#.WGxuDrHMxsM

And then I can repaint it with touch up spray. Since this has a textured coating I'm not worried about it matching the finish of the body.

I'll let you know how it works out.

Personally I don't like this coating. I have white as well and the area where this coating is has discolored with a yellowish haze.

this is normal...

have same issue.

Just drive it and enjoy it..

to the op scratches..I would just clean the dirt out - use scratch off- and than apply prosche touch up paint on a tooth pick. call it a day
