Some guy turned in front of me and my 1989 911 cab. Front end smashed
Insurance company wrote it of and I got paid $10k more than I paid for it (my brother bought it for me in California for a steal).
I bought the wreck from insurance company for $2k. Sold the "wreck" to a guy in Toronto for $13k cash as there was nothing wrong with the engine and he was going to rebuild the front
Bought a 993 a few weeks later with all the proceeds. That's pretty good math

Thats good. with all that work in on the car it'd be a shame to have it go to the scrap

I got in a fender bender and likely totaled my Porsche. It wasn't that high of an impact as the other car was barely damaged but the airbags deployed and the front in is crunched. I got cited for "driving too fast for the conditions" which I thought was a little unfair.
The insurance agent said they would pay me the value of the car minus my $500 deductible. I have about $20k of mods in the car including a supercharger. My insurance does not know about the mods so I am assuming the mods are not covered? Would I be wise to not mention it or see if I can get a bit more for the mods? Thanks.

That the other car was barely damaged means nothing. I had an '89 Volvo hit (t-bone) my new 2008 Cayman S. (My car was stopped the other car slid across several lanes of traffic to nail my car.) Both airbags in my car deployed along with the belt pre-tensioners.
The car was declared a total write off.
The other car ended up with just its driver's side headlight hanging out of the socket held by just the wiring harness. While I watched my brand new Porsche Cayman S being dragged up on the back of a flat bed truck the driver of the other car just got in her Volvo and drove away. (Probably was on her cell phone again within just seconds...)
I know you have some mod's in the car but it might be best to let the car be declared a total loss. Maybe you can remove the mod's and sell them?
Your insurance company will probably tie the hands of the repair shop. That I read in a later post from you just part of the car will be painted doesn't sound like a good start. 'course it depends upon the paint. My 2003 arctic silver Turbo had to have adjacent body panels painted to blend the paint. Just painting a panel the visual differences really jump out as one sees the original untouched panel right next to the freshly painted panel. This just screams "accident repair" and not a very good repair at that.

If they won't paint the rest of the car on your dime.... find a different shop. You have to have the mindset that you're the client, not the insurance company. Fight for what you want. Otherwise you'll regret it.

It would make sense and should not be a big deal for a good shop to get this done.
I would get my car some place else repaired that would irk me a little that they decide not to do something I would pay them for.

Can you tell me where you're located? Just because it's a certified P{Porsche repair Center don't mean you should let them fix your car. You need artists to fix your car and you can't have a shop that doesn't fight for what's right in the repair.
You need to do some work looking for the right place to take it. THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!

I too, am curious as to why the shop won't agree to repaint the whole car if you are willing to pay for that. What was their rationale for turning down additional business?
There are collision shops and there are shops that, like TommyV44 said, are artists. The former churns and burns and often spits out mediocre work at a fast rate. The latter takes whatever time they need to do a good job and has very few unsatisfied customers.
My first inclination is to think that the shop that doesn't want to repaint the whole car fits into the collision shop category and not the artisan category.
