Default Is my Stability Control Overactive?

I just recently got my first Porsche, a 2010 base PDK with sports chronos. I noticed that when exiting a freeway offramp with a curve (cloverleaf) at a normal speed, the brake pedal would pulsate (feels like abs) if I even lightly touch it. I am in no way going too fast, or scrubbing off too much speed. Just normal slowing down. Is this normal for the 997? Also I did not see any stability control lights light up in the dash when the brakes are pulsating. Is this normal?

For reference, I can brake much harder in my 3 series and it would not even activate the stability control.

Mine's only ever kicked in when kicking the back end way out on purpose or at the track at very high speed. Are you in sport mode or regular?

Sport mode vs regular mode matters. The PSM is less aggressive in sport mode (PSM=stability management, not to be confused with PASM for the 'S' model shocks).

Are you on winter tires? I've found in non-pcars the stability management or abs systems kick in sooner when on winter tires, probably because of all the siping on the winter tire treads letting the rubber move around a bit.

Could be the opposite of winter tires, what climate are you driving in? I have MPSS and I notice when really cold out my ABS kicks in sometimes when I don't expect it to. The handling of these tires in the 30 degree range is vastly different than most of the year when I am driving in the 80s.

I believe it will also kick in if you left foot brake while right foot is pushing the accelerator.

I'm in southern ca. temp in the 70's, running summer tires. It happens in both sport and normal mode. I'm no where near kicking the tail out. I'm driving at regular speed. In fact its the same speed that most normal people take the off ramp at.

How is the alignment. I have seen if the car is tracking weird it can cause the stability control to be finicky.

Turn off stability control and see if you have the same issue.

The car track straight. However I didn't get the alignment checked when I bought it. No sign of accident on the ppi though.

How do you turn the traction control off completely?

PSM off button. But if I am not mistaken I think even if PSM off is selected it automatically is engaged if ABS activates

Under your radio on the botton right, you should have a psm button. When you turn it off, it should show on the dash.

I have noticed this, too, on my '09. I get around it by not touching the brake pedal.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot.
