Default My new wheels are here!!!!!!!!!!!

After months and months of trying to decide which wheels to go with, my beautiful Tramont Cups have finally arrived today!

Before pulling the trigger, I considered the following wheels:

BBS CH-R. First in black, then in silver.
BBS LM.
BBS LM-R.
OEM Sport Classics.
Wheel Dynamics OS II Design.
Original Fuchs with black center and then with polished "petals" both in 18 and 19".
Meister S1.
Fifteen52 3pc Outlaw 001
Fifteen52 3pc Holeshot RSR
RH 3.6 Speedline style in 18".
BBS E88.

After I thought I had finally decided on the E88's (and being close to losing my mind), I found out about the Tramonts not too long ago thanks to some posts in the 993 forum. Everyone has given them outstanding reviews and I loved the fact that they can be ordered in custom sizes. I really wanted to get the perfect stance (to me) without using spacers. Another great thing about these wheels is that Tramont pays royalties to Porsche to allow them to make an exact replica of the no longer available Speedlines found on the 993 RS and GT2 which are my favorite Porsche wheels.

Tramont also produces wheels in their factory for BBS, OZ, Speedline, etc.

I also wanted to go with 18's because I think it looks better with a fatter tire, the improvement in ride quality and the tires are also cheaper. Win win win!

I also want to thank users 19VFB19 and especially nwGTS. Thanks to the information they provided I was able to decide on the sizes I ended up going with. Users jlaa and Magdaddy also helped with all their posts regarding the Tramont wheels on the 993 forum and with questions I had specifically via PM.

Wheel sizes I chose:

F: 8.5 x 18 ET 49
R: 11 x 18 ET 50

Tires are Continental DW 235/40/18 and 295/35/18.

I will also install the titanium bolts from World Motorsports.

I believe that mine will be the first 997 with these 993 style wheels. Let's hope they look as good as I think they will!

Below you will see a couple of pics after taking them out of the boxes. They will go on the car in 2 days after I return from a business trip I'm currently on. Will update the thread during each step of the process.

very cool wheel.... good luck with fit and look. Assume your car is not factory ride height as car may need to be lowered for these to reach maximum goodness

next a retro duck tail maybe and maybe a modest thin front chin spoiler for some aero asthetics? My prior front chin spoiler on my seal grey c2 (pic attached) I always loved the sides and how they curled around like an old school porsche air cooled gt2...

Gorgeous wheels. Just make sure you leave a little extra time for brake dust removal. Those little nuts are gonna collect it.

Nice Wheels, I had those on my 1990 964 cab, the nuts around the OD are going to drive you crazy come cleaning time. Or you can have someone do it for you!

Thanks! Yes my car is lowered on Eibachs. Doubt I'll go with the ducktail or chin spoiler. So far I haven't found one that I really like.

I'll make sure to leave some extra time during each wash to clean them. I probably need to buy a good brush to get in there properly.

According to Tramont they weigh between 26 and 28 lbs. I will try to weigh them before installing them.

My current wheels (Carrera Classic) weigh about the same but since the new ones won't need spacers and the tires will probably weigh less since they are 18s, I figure I will still be able to save a couple of pounds on each corner. I will also try to weigh the full wheel and tire to compare to my current setup.

If you can recommend a brush or wheel cleaner I greatly appreciate it

Griot's garage has a lug cleaning brush tool that attaches to a cordless drill.
It's about $15.
Go low speed and limit the spread of the bristles in the O created between your thumb and index finger.

Good luck!

Awesome wheels - I would love to see these in 19" though.
Tramont is a French wheel manufacturer IIRC - I remember someone with a Mk4 GTI ordering a set back in the day.

You are correct, Tramont is based in France. Here's a link to their website: http://www.tramont.fr
