Default Purchase decision help ...

Okay guys, I'm in the market for my first Porsche and need a little input from what I'd call the experts. I've lurked here for a couple months and the wife says I've spent far too many hours educating myself (and still know very little). My budget is mid-high 40's. Based on information I should be able to find a 2009 S cab. pdk. What other options should I be looking for? OR for that amount should I be looking at a different year? No tiptronic helps put me in this year along with my budget. Should I focus on the S vs the base for the additional HP?
Any other places I may find cars for sale? I've got multiple dealers in the Southeast looking for me, but nothing surfaced in the last month or so. Any guidance or help is much appreciated. Coming from a Jeep background I've found this community is as helpful as that world was.

Preferences (that i know of)
exterior (no black) prefer white
Cabriolet
heated/cooled seats
navigation
Thanks in advance for the help
Brian

No way you find a 2009 cab for mid 40's and sure not an S. Better add 10 to 12 K more. Porsche of Tyson has an 08 cab S for 47k right now

I think you may have to settle for a higher mileage example to get into a S Cab PDK for mid to high 40's. Definitely some out there but may have higher mileage, sparsely equipped, etc.

Auto trader has one in the PNW that meets your criteria. 2009 S convertible, PDK, heated/cooled seats. 50k price with 55k miles. Lowest one on auto trader that meets your specs. Plus it has CPO for another year or so.

My apologies if I'm off on pricing, I just took the PP and dealer price range and used that plus previous sold units. As i said earlier I'm new and trying to understand the market prior to purchase. I've driven a 2009 coupe and loved it but nothing to compare it too. ie older models etc. I have been looking at models 50Kish miles and less. Do you suggest I buy an older model with less miles?

I'd focus on 997.2 generation, but that's my bias. Drive a base and an S, and see if the difference is something that speaks to you...T

I just purchased a 2009 Carrera 4 S 6 speed manual. Milage was 42K and I paid 45K. I LOVE THIS CAR! Go for the 4S if you can. Those hips and that transparent 4 wheel drive system are amazing. I looked long and hard for the right car. Take your time and find the car that you just cant stop driving.

Welcome to Rennlist Brian and thanks Kellen for the link to my car for sale ;-)

Brian, as I mentioned in my texts, my car meets your needs and its pristine - at the lower than my auto trader price :-) and now you know me a little bit better ;-)

Small world, I'm right next door. Great price, especially with the CPO warranty.

OP I would try for the newer generation, especially if you wanted heated seats and PDK as they weren't offered in the 997.1 generation. I would try testing an S vs base car and see if it matters to you. I personally know I would always be wondering about the S if I got the base.....

I would strongly suggest holding out for the full leather interior. I've had both, and the full leather is much nicer, IMO.

Also, if you can, spend some time in the different seats. You may find the shape and/or adjustability make a big difference.

Clean car fax
50,000 miles
Two owner car.
Talked to the second owner who only had the car for a year .
He was 6'6'' tall and could not fit in the car way well and did not like a Vert.
Clean PPI
Also bought a excutionary 10 year and additional 100K mile warranty
So i guess i will be keeping the car for awhile.
Also had the service records.
was planning to travel to get a car and happend to be on a lot close to home while all the equipment and color combo I wanted.
Previous owner also spen 1600 for a life time paint sealer.
Im happy and love the car.

Enjoy the search OP. I wouldn't be gun-shy about getting one of these cars with 50k+ miles if that is where your price point falls. As tomc_mets points out.. as far as S vs base.. you'll just need to try and find both to drive and see how you feel about it.

I'd also stretch for the 997.2 if it comes down to choosing.

My wife said the same thing during my year-long plus search.

Anyway, plug your parameters into autotrader in a national search and see what comes up. You will figure out quickly what you can get for the money you want to spend - just realize some regions of the country may be a bit different interms of price points than others.. Also, consider expanding your search territory and think about whether you can do a fly in to see the car - and (hopefully) drive it home or have it shipped. You will be able to find a local shop that can do a credible pre-purchase inspection (PPI).

Lastly, have fun with the search, don't sweat it. The right car will find you, when the time is right.

Let us know how it turns out .

I concur that full leather is a nice option. Beyond that I also really like the self dimming mirrors, with the car sitting so low it really helps reduce glare at night.

I think you have a chance at finding a 09 cab in your price range. You may have to pay 5k more than you want.
