The 997.2: It's That Good
#18
I'm not going to go on and on about the 911 because most of it has already been written by much better writers. After about 9 months of ownership, I had the opportunity to spend about 7 hours driving my 2009 997.2 in the rolling hills surrounding Reading Pa. In a word...Fantasmagorical.

89A from Sedona to Prescott is my favorite drive!! I tell my wife that I am going to the In N Out in Prescott. She thinks I am crazy. 89A from Sedona to Flagstaff is great too but there is always a load of people on it. I seem to always get stuck in a 25 MPH train of cars.

Had my 997.2 for about a month and a half now. Still no real good roads as yet. I do have one nice little twisty lane with elevation changes near my home though. I've been able to compare this '09 S PDK to my old '06 Cayman S 6 speed. Prior owner was a detail guy and did sort it out very well. It has 305s on the rear and a special alignment set up. Here is the deal on that road: it is more neutral than the mid engine Cayman was. Surprise. The Cayman had a rough ride on bad roads while with PASM in standard setting the 997.2 is a cruiser. In Sport plus, like a track set up. It's also a lot faster.

Like you I'm 9/10 months into ownership. 6k miles later and it's still fresh, like I'm stilling learning her....so good. Took wifey out to dinner tonite, 10 mile drive each way, bout a 1/2 hour ago, smiled and looked at her and said "did I tell you how much I love this car?!?", She laughed and said, "you say that every time"....what a great car, simply the best car I've ever driven....

Every now and then I have my moments with my 997.2. It rides rough, it squeaks/rattles, it's noisy. But on days like today, I forget it all... Blew out the cobwebs and burned a tank of gas romping up Palomar Mountain and vicinity. Holy cow... This car on twisty roads is simply spectacular!!

Definitely a wonderful car for road trips
I had to fly 1700 miles to pick up mine and drove it back that weekend. What a fantastic car for long road trips. It's nice having room in the cabin for a cooler and snacks for the road (this was the point that drove me away from the Boxster) and the absolute comfort in rain or shine is amazing.
I am SO happy I bought mine.

LOL, I had dinner recently with a buddy who is now cross-country. He was a car guy and gave me immense **** over my 14-year-old Chrysler (now 17-year-old) while he drove his 370Z. He inspected and approved of my 997.2 and then said he had just test driven a 991 and admitted everything Nissan did right on his 370Z, Porsche did just a little bit better.
