On verge of picking up a 2009 911 4S!
Hi all-
Been looking at cars for awhile now, and actually had my heart set on a Maserati Granturismo. However, a local 911 4S popped up in my search and I decided to go drive it.
Well, game over. Wow what a car. So much fun to drive. I didn't really know much about it, but after researching a bit it's got the PDK and Sport Chrono package which is great! I went and drove the Granturismo after the 911 which was a mistake. It drove nice, exhaust was great and interior was a step up in terms of luxury...but it didn't "click" with me the way the Porsche did. I felt like the 911 was an extension of my body on the road...if that makes sense.
Anyway, just have to decide if I can live without useable back seats. I suppose my 2 and 10 year old can still use it, but that's about it. Altho AWD up here in the North will be nice!
One thing I did notice on the carfax, is it had 5 owners, and one was in Hawaii! Now I know sometimes those owners are dealers, but is that something to be concerned with? It's only got 22k miles on it so mileage isn't a concern. No accidents. That was about the only thing that was a negative.
Just wanted to say hey to the board and show my excitement!

So sounds like the 5 owners is concerning to you as well. Strange to have that many owners with only 22k miles. That's why I wonder if some are dealers/auction type "owners".
Thanks!

If the car checks out well after a PPI, I would not let multiple owners stop me. The right car is hard to find and the car doesn't know how many title transfers there were. Condition is much more important to me.

+1. History, Condition. Maintenance. Those would be the things I cared about. Number of owners wouldn't bother me. Especially with how difficult it is finding pristine 997.2's these days.

Yep I did. So far there are only 2 total C4S's in the country that meet my criteria on Autotrader...and one of them is this local one. Pretty crazy. I'll look at some other sites as well to see if I can find something.

Welcome to the madness. The +1 rule of 911 shopping is, if you don't want to buy one, don't test drive it!!
I wouldn't get too bent about 5 owners. Higher end cars seem to change hands more often than pickup trucks that people drive into the ground. Just get a PPI, follow all the excellent advice above, and enjoy the hunt...T

I bought my 09 CSC with 26k miles and two previous owners. I haven't had a problem in 2.5 years and am in love with my girl. I use the top 2-3 times a day, drive daily, and enjoy every bumpy, stiff mile daily....not a better driving machine on the planet.

Are you in the continental USA? It's very odd for car of this value to be shipped back and forth between Hawaii because of the cost. 5 owners with less than 25k miles is unusual considering the owner(s) in Hawaii could drive it year round. Lastly, if you buy and decide to sell later you will prpbably get beaten up on the price because of the issues above. Six owners is a lot.

Id have a dealer do a complete cpo inspection, have them look up all the service history and see if theres anything funny about the cars location or ownership
Can you determine if there is 5 real owners or just change of title which is more likely

Yes, same for me. I was forever spoiled for sports cars after my first Porsche test drive, and that was a Boxster. Don't rush, plenty of used Porsches to choose from. Winter is coming too, so prices should be easing up in over half of the country. Stick with 2009+ (DFI engined), get a PPI, and get a CPO, if possible. Good luck and enjoy your search!

I would look for a 1 owner car with under 20k mi, from a local dealer that sold the car, with no funny history. I would only buy a car with cpo also. Theres plenty of them. check porsche cpo inventory
