Agree - even used car market is crazy for these cars.

it's all you guys who bought it, talked about how wonderful and special it is and talked all the rest of us into buying a used one. We support you with the RV and tell the same thing to the next guy about how great the car is. Still - very few seem to feel cheated. Instead, many get the itch.

So there must be a value behind the price.

3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and a 2-car garage. I've never paid even $50K for a car and doubt that I ever would.

Thanks for the correction. Finance 101 teaches how to get in debt to buy a Porsche.

You have a Hummer and a Viper and you are complaining about the quality of the interior of Porsches???

What precisely don't you like about the 997 interior? I came to Porsche from older, cheaper cars - 1995 Ford Escort, 1997 Honda Civic, etc. - so to me the interior of my 997.2S seems classy and luxurious with all that leather, & without the profusion of buttons that pollute modern Porsches. To me, the 997 interior compares favorably with our 2011 Ferrari California.

Thanks for your thoughts...T

You must live in Mississippi or somewhere in the bayou. Can't get that around here for anywhere near that price. 3 BR, 2 1/2 baths would cost $350k by me.

Actually, no they can't. You live in LA. I live in NJ. On the coasts, salaries are much higher. In kansas, you can bet your run-of-the-mill attorney, business owner, professional, and potentially even doctor, are struggling to make $100k. Given that this run of the mill individual likely has 2 kids, this makes it even less affordable.

If I had to guess, the buyers of new 911s are either very enthusiastic and therefore willing to prioritize the car heavily or have income levels of $300k or more.

As for a $100k, I expect a lot, but I know I won't get it. I also know how quickly that $100k becomes $60k on the used market. Therefore, I will not be buying any new car for $100k. $100k in the used market gets you some decent value though.

Agreed. I've never bought a brand new car before. The used car market gets you so much more for the price.

for around 75k I expect this new Grandsport with z07 package

But I want a CPO this for 75k.. not going to happen yet

I might jump to corvette grandsport next...I might just do it!

and than I go back to just wanting a 991 C4S with SPASM, PDK, Sport Chrono Plus...sigh hard to find period! haven't seen one CPO

The same "is it worth it?" to a $250K Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc...could be asked.
I honestly think the 911 is right where it should be in terms of price, quality, and performance. A 911 is a "total package" sports car.
A loaded up Z51 Stingray is $75k+ and it has cheap leather, horrible paint and low rent materials. Every time a "new" Corvette gets introduced, the same old idiotic statement is made that it's as good as a 911. In 30 years of being around the Porsche culture, I have never seen a Porsche owner that buys new 911's ever be lured back to a Corvette because it's a true replacement for a 911.

Really?? I am in rural Central Pa. and most of my doctor friends pay $150k easy on their cars. It's nothing to see these guys buying a $130k MB every other year. $200k+ salaries are not out of the ordinary at all. Everyone I know that lives around me has at least a combined household income of $180K. People that buy Porsches in my area are enthusiast and use them as fun cars and not a daily driver. We have a Carrera GT in our little PCA chapter that regularly goes on organized cruises and we live in the sticks.
