So, I traded the GT2 buckets away for a Boxster S (which I quickly sold)
Replaced the GT2 seats with Recaro Pole Position ABE. These are only available from Europe, and are wider than the standard Pole Positions. Black with Alcantara. For me, these are the perfect seats! They make you feel even more connected to the car than the GT2s. The GT2s look absolutely jaw dropping, so they win in the looks department. But the PPs feel like they fit you like a glove. I want these in every car I am ever going to own until I die....LOL
Finally, after 2 years, the car is in the body shop to start the body work. Sorry to report, I chickened out on the rear widebody flares. I was already running a 335/30/18 in the rear, so couldnt justify making it wider, and risk messing up the handling and looks of the car.
What I have decided to go ahead with is Cargraphic carbon kevlar wide front fenders, GT3 front bumper, custom ducktail, and sunroof delete. The front fenders are super cool. They add an inch extra clearance to each side, allowing a wider front track and wider wheels/tires. And they give the car a more aggressive look up front, while maintaining the smooth flared look of the rear fenders.
While the car was being prepped, my friend at Vaughan Fine Touch informed me that the original paint had really 'yellowed' over time. Makes sense, as the car is now over 10 years old. But, it wasnt until he removed the rear fender vinyl protectors that I could see just how bad it is. So, obviously, we are painting the entire car.

I kinda wish you kept the GT2s though, but that's just me. I asked you about the Recaros Sportsters earlier in your thread and really had my mind set on them too. But just before Christmas a kijiji seller in Calgary was unloading a set of OE full power sport seats from a GT2 so I grabbed them. No more seat worries for me now. To top it off, they are crested and heated too, so full bolt in. I would have preferred full leather (the ones I have are alcantara centre) but at the price, couldn't be beat. No shipping expense either - I just drove down to Calgary and back in a day.
Expecting constant progress photos of the bodywork too! Just to confirm - the photos you already posted show the Cargraphic fenders installed already?
I have a 38 inch waist and wide shoulders, and the GT2 seats were comfy. However, my shoulders didnt quite fit right. The Recaros have firmer padding, and really feel snug. I love alcantara, and it seems to add a lot of grip. And as I mentioned earlier, they fit me like a glove.
Nothing looks better in the 997 than the GT2 seats. However, for me, the Recaros feel better. You really feel connected to the car once in them. That being said, the GT2s I had were well used, while my Recaros are brand new.
One of the huge disappointments with the GT2 seats was something I found out after I bought them. There is a warning sticker on the backs when new (was removed on the set I purchased) that says that you cant seat any people in the back seats when they are installed. So, what is the use of making them fold forward ?????? The whole reason why I paid the big bucks for them was to have a bucket seat where I could still take my kids around in the back of the car. With that option gone, I felt that there were better options for seats at about half the price of GT2s. So, I took a chance on the Recaros and very happy that I did.
Loving the curve of those front fenders and the way the shape integrates into the bodywork. Not a fan of the bolt on flare look at all (Liberty Walk). Cool that they keep the front side markers too.

Yes, those are the Cargraphic fenders installed. Its a more subtle look than the taped on fender flares. They add an inch of width to each side up front, allowing you to run up to a 285 width tire. Fitment wasnt terrible, but took a lot of work to make it perfect, like any aftermarket part.
The lightweight Front Fender allows its width gain to offer other wider wheel to tyre combinations. In turn, endures a more optimal driving performance through its reduced under steer.

dropped by the bodyshop today to check in on the car. Everything has been painted, and is in the process of polishing. Colour is Porsche Lizard Green. It definitely stands out more than the white LOL
