997 widebody build thread
LIST OF MODIFICATIONS
INTRODUCTION Last year I picked up a Porsche 997 C4s. When I first got the car and started driving it, I was amazed by the overall package. It was the sportiest car I had ever owned when pushed hard, but could also be used for Costco trips, daycare duty, and driven 365 days a year. For me, it was the perfect daily driver, and I really believed, at the time, that I wouldn't feel the need to mod it. This is what it looked like when I first got it http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817848/p4pb13817848.jpg The car came with some nice options, including sport seats, red seat belts, carbon trim, and factory short shift kit. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb11929268/p4pb11929268.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb11929270/p4pb11929270.jpg Of course, it wasn't long until I started to make some select upgrades. I swapped out the stock wheels for some forged lightweight Champions, installed a GT2RS steering wheel and matching shift knob, and updated the ECU with a Softronic tune. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817849/p4pb13817849.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb13817892/p5pb13817892.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb13817853/p5pb13817853.jpg For the rear wing, I swapped out the stock decklid and installed an OEM Turbo wing, with an EB Werks fixed wing kit. Also, the painted side sills were looking pretty rough, so I installed new black ones. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817836/p4pb13817836.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb13817925/p5pb13817925.jpg After the summer, the car will be going into the shop to get additional work done. RSS Sway bars, engine mounts, Full TARMAC kit including LCAs, dogbones. Also Bilstein Damptronic coilovers with monoball top mounts http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb13817846/p5pb13817846.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817832/p4pb13817832.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817838/p4pb13817838.jpg Old school 18 inch HREs and some fat Falken Azenis http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817850/p4pb13817850.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817851/p4pb13817851.jpg Lightweight Aasco Flywheel and SACHS sprung clutch, AWE headers and high flow cats http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817834/p4pb13817834.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb13817855/p5pb13817855.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb13787640/p5pb13787640.jpg Cargraphic carbon kevlar wide front fenders, OEM GT3 front bumper, Cup lip, and some widebody rear fender flares, that will be custom modded http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13539622/p4pb13539622.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13539618/p4pb13539618.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p5pb13817854/p5pb13817854.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817839/p4pb13817839.jpg http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb13817843/p4pb13817843.jpg Next update likely wont be until late winter. Goal is to get all parts installed and bodywork completed for the Spring. |
Wow Michael.
I definitely want to see this car next spring once completed!! |
Going to be awesome when completed!
One question though, on your rear flairs are you going to trim the existing fenders to accommodate the new wider tires? |
Thanks guys!

You got it bad....
|
That takes big nads as there is no going back afterwards.
But you will have modern wide body! Good luck, look forward to your build posts.

Yup, the car will be going under the knife, when installing the rear flares. They are a Liberty Walk replica, so it will be pretty much the same as they do in this video at about the 3min mark...
|
Haha, yeah. It's a one-way ticket to ruining a perfectly good automobile :)
|
whoa! can't wait to see this thing come to life.
|
When are you doing the 4L engine??

Great car, can't wait to see it. PM me who is doing the custom work for you if you don't mind. Thx |
Vaughan Fine Touch is going to do all the body work.
http://www.vaughanfinetouch.com/ They have a lot of experience with Porsche's and Exotics. And John is a great guy. Compared to one of their recent projects below, mine should be a cake walk... https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...d5af4f34d3.jpg |
