Accident - thoughts? Totaled?
#1
Someone turned into my lane about an hour ago - striking my left rear quarter and wheel. Thoughts on the damage? Totaled? And the 23mo remaining on my CPO? I've done some research in the last few minutes but am seeing mixed responses. Thanks all. :/

Sorry about the accident! Doh! Glad you're OK.
But - need a little more info to make any sort of Internet assessment. That being said, based on the lack of use of CAPS LOCK - I would estimate ~$15K in damage.

Sorry folks - cops finally arrived and I didn't have time to post photos.
I just tried to post photos but rec'd an error - I'll post up shortly.
By repairs done properly, I assume that's by the Porsche dealership?
Sorry if these questions are no brainers - I've been riding and driving for some 14 years and knock on wood have never laid a bike down or wrecked a vehicle.

I had the same miss fortune, hit on right rear directly on wheel. 2011 997 S with PDK. Repair estimate 56k. PDK required replacement. Sub frame cracked in two places. Totaled. Not my fault. 86 year old lady hit me. She carried $10K of insurance. We had same insurance carrier. Settled for FULL value. Purchased replacement: 2012 C4 GTS. If damage is too extensive best to move on.

Thanks cz. The damage, now that I've calmed down a bit, doesn't look bad - but I'm still in the infatuation phase where a bug stain looks bad. Ill post photos tomorrow morning - I returned home (drove the 997 home, no noticeable difference) to an internet outage and for some reason, my photos won't post using the RL app via data.

Thanks - I've update the original post with more details. I imagine I can subtract $10k from the private party value?

Planning to get it over to the Houston dealership this weekend.

Agree - not totaled but not cheap to repair. Look for the Porsche authorized repair center for a quote.

You know, that's something I never see addressed. While a repaired or replaced fender or door on a Chevy, Buick or even a decent Benz doesn't really hurt the value of the car, a stickler will not even want a Porsche with a repaint on a bumper let alone quarter panels, etc. A car with a 50k+ value with a repair of this type will take a hit no matter how good the repair is. Why doesn't the insurance company compensate for that? The action of another literally hurt the value of that vehicle which in many instances can't be recouped.
