Default Where is the gas tank?

As I was putting gas in my car today I started wondering where it's located. I knew I could get a quick answer here. Thanks in advance.

It's in the frunk. Just in front of the stereo you can say. Under the navigation DVD if you have one in the frunk.

Thanks. I was afraid of that. I hope it's well-insulated.

You were afraid of that?!? Do you think it's unsafe? Why do you drive a 911 at all if you do not understand its architecture, benefits, quirks et al?

And it is right in the center behind the wheels... about as protected a spot as you can get. If you have an AWD, the tank actually has a upside-down U shape in the center with a lobe on each side of the drive shaft. That still allows an even lateral weight distribution for the fuel load.

There is no safe place for a gas tank. There is only the least dangerous place, and it's pretty much in the least dangerous place possible.

At my local station, the gas tanks are underground. You'll see the pretty colored painted covers in the ground. When you drive over them, they make a racket.

Where would OP prefer a gas tank?

Also, unless you are driving around with the tank on E your are probably pretty safe. Gas catches fire, gas vapor produces an explosion.

As far as insulation, you would need your gas tank to get above 500 degrees for your tank to catch fire.

I know that. The OP is the one who said that he's 'afraid of that' when he learned about the tank's position which apparently makes him afraid.

No. The 911 is not a Pinto.

The second point simply points out that many today drive a 911 the same way as they could drive any other flashy sports car. They have no clue about it.
