My first Porsche 911! New rennlist member
Hello everyone. I just bought a 2006 Porsche 997 Carrera S Cabriolet six-speed! It had 23,600 miles in excellent condition. I love the car, feel so blessed to own it, and it hasn't even been a week of ownership. I did a lot of research before buying from private party. Relied heavily on rennlist forums so I wanted to join as an official Porsche 911 owner.
I'm not one to read manuals but I may with this car. I killed the battery by leaving the light switch to the most right position. After driving I removed the key and the lights were off so I thought like my previous car, '13 BMW 328i, I could leave light switch at most right position. Wrong. Car didn't start in morning. Lesson learned. New battery and all is well.
The PCM is a disaster. Yes I will learn it but relative to the market, it's badly thought out.
Car drives, handles so incredibly well. The power of engine, with the six-speed is a blast. I've stalled in middle of intersection making a u-turn, embarrassing, still learning to drive it haha. I seriously need to watch my speed though, couldn't get expensive with speeding tickets cuz let me tell you, I've been doing some speeding. Been driving fun roads I've known for years in my 911, makes me appreciate driving dynamics of 911. This car is just flat out awesome.
Let me know if you want suggestions on buying used 997. I learned a lot of good info I'll
happily share with the forum.

Congratulations! Driven less than 2500 miles per year. I thought I was bad. There was a thread about leaving the turn signal on as being part of parking hazard feature for tight roads. Your old battery just needed to be replaced.

Ray997,
Excellent car. Super clean all around. You chose wisely. Amazing when you think about it, car is 10 years old and still looks modern. I am coming to like the DRLs on the 997.1 better than the LED DRLs on the 997.2, mainly because I think they may age better than clusters of LEDs present on the front and back (brake lights) of the .2s. Bet that engine sings in your ears with the top down.
Enjoy
