To tint or not

Ditto on the clear UV-block film. The installers showed me the specs where it blocks as much UV as the darkest tints. I don't mind the look of darker tints, it's the restricted night vision I don't like. Hard for me to see how to back up, or if there's someone walking behind the car.
I find that the UV film does reduce the heat and fading, but I still got some carpet fading. I redyed those areas and treated with a water-based UV block spray.

I tint all my cars, especially needed in Cali keeps its cool, protects the interior and for aesthetics reasons. Currently looking to do the front with the clear UV resistant. I can see some with weaker vision to be troublesome at night. But until then, tint all the way.

OK... I'll jump in.
Tint.
In SoCal it's a must. Those that don't like it that's OK, everyone has an opinion just like everyone has a belly button. And yes, it's all legal tint.
Saves my leather and my carpet in the rear, and yes, I have a solar shield for the front windshield as well. It's always garaged but when it's out from Friday to Sunday, it's maximum shielding from the solar rays....it's been that way from day one and the next owner, if any, will appreciate it.

I've had great success with Formula One Pinnacle 35 - go see Paul at Tint Busters - 183 and Duval.

tint it up for the heat protection to save that expensive interior. As others have said, the coloring is a personal preference. Can get clear tint or super dark that provides the same UV protection.

BTW, Ben, you said you got some carpet fading. If I may ask, what color is your interior? Thank you…T

Did a light tint to keep the heat out of the cabin. Looks fine. Dont care what others think.
And ive had tinted windows in NJ for 20 years. Never once been stopped.

I've been going back and forth about that as well. My decision is more on whether to tint with the 70% WINCOS (basically clear) and 35%. I have this funny thing about silver cars and tint. I just like the look without it. Looks cleaner to me. I have tinted my daily driver (E90) with the 35% WINCOS to protect the interior and keep the heat off of me. The older I get, the less I like the sun beating on my face while I'm driving.
I was going to just flip a coin, but I think I'm just going to do the 70% and call it a day. I'm going to have the film put all the way around (including windshield). It's amazing how much cooler it is with the Heat rejection on the front glass. It won't impede night vision at all.
Good luck with your decision.

You didn't tint the windshield though, did you? I 'm thinking of going with a 35% because I think it'll look badass with my meteor gray metallic. Might go clear on the front windshield. I drive a cabrio and 90% of the time the top is down. When the top is down so are the windows...so. I doubt I'll get a ticket while I'm parked and all the windows are up. Hell, my front plate is in under the passenger seat and haven't gotten pulled over for that, so.

I've got 35% all around including windshield. Looks good but I think clear glass is far more handsome on a Porsche. I have this tint because i'm daily driving in Florida rather be comfortable and not fry under the sun and the leather thanks me too.

If you live in a hot climate and your car spends any time outside, including driving time, tint is a necessity.
As for aesthetics, tint looks far better than a sun-damaged interior without tint.
