Nope. 997.2 still uses the clutch pack LSD. So a guards diff will replace the OEM diff without compromising other systems in the car (i.e. PSM which does apply brakes to stabilize the car).

Default LSD, yes. Limited Slip Differential, not so much!

I tried it at Hyde Park, London almost 20 years ago - ended up piloting a house around the city from a rooftop, quite an adventure.

can anyone tell me if there is a risk to the PDK transmission (stress and failure ) when installing a noncom LSD to a 997.2? Is there a re-flash of the shifting computer to tell the CPU that there is now a mechanical differential installed? I would imagine that the shifting and other aspects of the car (Traction Control, etc) need to be informed so that it does not put undo stress on the PDK?

That sounds like even more fun than piloting a P car through London.

I also have a non-LSD GTS. Wondering how the Guard setup performed?

I only have one partial track day due to rain on the GTS so far and it was with the Guard diff so I can't compare it to what it would be like with an open diff unfortunately. I did have multiple track days with and without the Guard LSD installed in my 2S. There was a noticeable improvement powering out of corners with the diff and no discernible (to me) downside.

Regarding the other type of LSD, way, way back in the day there were these little orange, barrel shaped tabs that were known as Orange Sunshine. These were definitely more than a 4 - 6 hour experience but what an experience. There is a soon to be released documentary by the same name about the folks behind its manufacture and distribution that's getting a lot of attention. Could be interesting.

The OS Giken will fit on either the original open PDK transaxles, or also the LSD transaxles, you simply need to know how to fit it. (There is a trick to it.)

Give me a call and I will be happy to share it with you.

Anyone knows which OS Giken will fit 997.2 PDK car with factory open diff?
Also I know that OEM Side Bearings need to be reused, would I be able to keep and go back to the OEM open diff in the future (although not like I need/want to do that)? I have heard the old diff will be "destroyed" to get the bearings???
