Outside of Cali (Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho), no problem (no vapor recovery). Good thing since we often found 300+ miles between stations on the roads we were on.
But a partial fill is a bear when you're trying to maximize miles between fills on a long trip.

I found that turning the nozzle up 180deg works, even without the plastic ring. But I always stop when it shuts off, or check in the gauge before pressing on.
The new Chevron nozzles form a strong vacuum. The other day on a different car I had to pull very hard to break the vacuum and extract the nozzle. Nuts!
