Very cool. I'd love to see some of the geotag info from the images and route map ... its gotten me interested in visiting some of those places.

David, I think this is the lower falls of the Yellowstone River in the canyon, about an hour south of the Gardner. We did a driving trip in the 911-GTS from Vancouver and were near that spot. Back then I was just a road trip date and although he didn’t realize it, he was interviewing as a cohab boyfriend.

Looks like a great trip!
Went past 79K miles today and will be close to 80K tomorrow! I'm attaching a photo here that has nothing to do with the trip but everything to do with you!

As you must see, it is a well-thrashed pine tree which was deposited there sometime ago by one form of erosion or the other.

I think that it fits perfectly.

In places like this, gravity, sun, darkness, snow, ice and water are the artists of the natural landscape -- it doesn't need our help (to be manicured?).

Wayne: is that the falls on the Gardner River just up the hill traveling south out of of Mammoth Hot Springs, WY (heading towards the high country, geysers and West Yellowstone)?!

Some great shots (considering the rig/application!). Looking forward to seeing many more images from a real camera (hint hint)
This is correct (log). The shot is from the top of the Lower Falls in the Yellowstone Grand Canyon. I'll attach a photo that Pam took on her phone in Wisdom, MT. Unfortunately the battery and charger for her good camera got left in Torrey. So this shot lacks some resolution. Another trip will be due soon after we get her GLA 45!

Today ... not as many pictures since the 12 encouraged Pam to request no pictures ...

Started today in Montana, drove through Idaho and Oregon, ended in Nevada.

I'm selecting photos from small images on my phone. Sorry if I'm not getting the right ones.

Now it's time to decide which pass(es) to drive on the way home tomorrow :-)

Idaho, Sinclair station, failed to get a picture ...

The gas options included 87, 89, 91, 91 without ethanol. Went with the latter. Felt stronger (psychological?) and am getting 450 miles on this tank (almost 20% above normal).

Just FWIW.

One last comment before I turn to other things ... the more I drive this car the more I love it. 21 months and 45K miles. After over 11 hours and more than 600 miles today the only reason for stopping was dinner and a shower. I'm lucky ... more tomorrow!

One more last comment for the night. Bugs on the bumper from four states. The windshield is done the last fill up. The clean car pic is after I cleaned it up Sunday night.

But... almost no brake dust. Either no heavy breaking or different pads.

91 non-ethanol should produce the same power as 91 with ethanol, but should give you a slight improvement in gas mileage.

I recommend Sonora Pass - CA 108.

Fantastic looking trip! Love the twisties sign!

It's not just psychological, ethanol does nothing but hurt mileage, power, and longevity in most vehicles. I hate that pretty much nothing but E10 gas is available most places in the states (You never see it in the EU). I guess it keeps the corn lobby happy though... if that's something you care about.

8 days gone waaaaay too fast. It's good to be home but I'm looking for a 500 mile drive that I can take tomorrow!

No pictures today. The homing instinct kicked in and we did a non stop.

Nicely brake-dust-coated rim. Now... needs a wash.

Well done!

Great trip and photos - any lessons learned/tips for someone preparing for their first big road trip w/a 997? Circa 5,000 miles.

Thanks!
