Not to be deterred, I am now drilling over the 981 Cayman S with PSE. The sound is intoxicating, and it looks fantastic. How does it drive? I don't know yet. On paper it performs similarly to my base 997.2. Again though, it's a beauty to look at:

That looks fantastic. Such a nicely balanced car compared to 911 too.

I think the 991.2 and 718 are like the 996...not quite right. Such a big change to the character of the cars it might take till the next big change to get them exactly right. You have to remember that the 997.1 is essentially 996.3 if you catch my meaning.

I drive my C4S everyday and every time I think of getting something else I have to shake my f'ing head. Why would I want to do that? Spend 3 times it's value for a news 4S? Is it better looking? More comfortable? More fun? Sure it's faster but on public roads? Nah.

Well beauty is subjective, some people prefer fats chicks. lol. I prefer the looks of the 981 over any 911 except the 991 GT3s. It's too bad, it's PDK only. Would never want to own a PDK GT3.

brilliant analogy.

just genius...
That said, it is still a 4cyl turbo charged 60k plus car....
I personally just can't justify it in my head.

So I continue to shop 991.1 4s PDK sport chrono plus PTV, sport pasm cars for sale (certified pre owned)...

That dang Porsche bug its never enough to have what you got.
I guess that is why we all can afford Porsches

I'm looking forward to a test drive of the new 718 models.

Talking with the tech the other day. He just go back from training. Had a bunch of engine pics to show me. Head off. Pic of block looking down. Hey! It is missing a cylinder! Dished pistons with just a hint of notches in them for valve clearance.

Cylinders coated with some kind of iron using a plasma deposition technique.

One turbo. Water/oil cooled with variable vane technology. Lots of boost. 1+ bar. (My 996 Turbo only makes standard 0.7 bar.) Makes lots of torque down low and power up top.

9.5:1 compression.

Water cooled inter cooler on top of engine. Uses a separate fluid system with its own radiator.

SM goes down I think next week or the week after to test drive the new models. As soon as he's back I'm going in to hear what he thinks.

Maybe I'm the only one but it looks a little funny from the back. I think the 981 looks better.

I moved from a 997.2 TTS to this exact car. I miss that thrust, but damn this car is direct and planted!

The original Cayman's have grown on me - they have great hips. Wife really likes them now too so she plans on trading in her Jag for a first gen Cayman 6 speed next year.

Can't stand any of the new ones - the rear end is the only Porsche in production that screams Volkswagen.

Anything definitive as to when the 718 Cayman will arrive in US showrooms?
