911 In Trouble?
Porsche, aside from the GT3/GT3RS and other type of specialty cars, has been slowly but surely moving the 911 from a sports car into a GT car.
It seems Porsche wants the Cayman to occupy the sports car place that the 911 used to, and the 911 will be their Grand Tourer.
Makes sense, as the 911 has become bigger and softer, just like the demographic who buys then.

Unless they can keep the Cayman from dropping in value as bad as they normally do, then I doubt the 911 will be in any trouble.
One of the reasons we went from Boxster to 911 was the boxster was worth less than a Civic after the same amount of time a 911.
Its not that the 911 is an investment, but at least the depreciation is not a cliff, more like a steep hill.

That amount of mass production is going to mean massive depreciation for any run-of-the-mill Porsche, including the 911 variants that fall in that category.

Sorry but nothing is going to take the top spot of the 911. It is what the brand is known for. Plus I am still yet to hear of someone say they wish they had a Cayman when a 911 is in their garage. If they really wanted it to be their top car then all the would need to do is drop a bigger engine in it than a 911. That will never happen.

Luckily for them, they have tons of legroom sitting behind me.
