Default GT3 instrument cluster swap in Carrera S

In short no programing needed to get most of it working.

Fuel gauge were off at first and oil level measurement didn't work. After setting car type to GT3 the fuel gauge worked perfectly and oil level now can be measured while engine is running (but off).

Did your mileage change to the donor cluster? Or reset to the car's original mileage?

My understanding is that the mileage on the donor cluster must be reset and documented.

For new clusters with less than 100 miles on them when installed, yes it updates to the original mileage in the car. But for used clusters I thought the mileage would NOT reset, instead showing the donor car's mileage. At least that's my understanding for a 997.1. But I'm not 100% sure, so asking the question to the OP.

Yes, it's showing the donor car's mileage now. Have already recorded the mileage difference before the swap and will get the mileage updated once I tested out everything

Can I ask what the point of this was? Cosmetic? Functional?

I'm curious about the reason for doing this as well.

The red line no longer matches what you can do with a 997. I am also wondering what you are getting out of this conversion...? I can see some yellow and red lines (instead of white)....

Judging by his avatar pic, maybe the OP is going for the whole "GT3-look"? (Getting the actual cluster, logo and all, is sort of like rebadging the car "GT3," is it not?) I don't get it, either, but to each his own, I suppose.

I love factory Aerokit cars, but wannabe GT3s are something else entirely. *shrugs*

Seems like a lot of hassle for a "GT3" logo in the panel....

Try explaining that to the next buyer. I wouldn't touch it.

i think it's a pretty cool cosmetic mod depending on how cheap this mod was. But I wouldn't go out of my way to pay top dollar for a GT3 cluster. I wouldn't be able to justify the expense. But if you got it for a steal, why not? Nice job.

Redline being inaccurate would be a pretty good reason why to not do this...lol. Two totally different cars. Mezger vs 9a1.

I'm wondering what would happen when he hits redline. Never seen anything like this before..

It does give him the chance to play modest as he seemingly "short shifts" his GT3. No need to show off.
