A good driving buddy has one. Great sounding, and one of the best looking cars out there, IMO. Whenever we go out, the Porsches in the crowd take a back seat to attention from others. The F-Type hogs the show. We're on a drive this Sunday, and in June going out for a 10 day road trip. Haven't been behind the wheel, though.

I've driven it twice, once during a launch party and was asked to take it home for a couple of days. I wasn't serious in buying so I didn't take up their offer. I drove it again when deciding between a 981 Boxster S or the F Type convertible, ended up with the Boxster. It's more comparable with a Boxster than a 997. Pros were the looks and sound, the sound of the V8 and that exhaust is intoxicating. But the Porsche wins in all other categories, reliability, ride quality, interior, just an overall better car.

I'd driven a v8 supercharged rwd ftype coupe. I was blown away with it. No need to mention the sound it makes, but I really enjoyed the dampening. The suspension was well tuned, felt responsive AND soaked up the bumps nicely with the 20inch wheels it had on. However, I would only consider it if you are sure that you won't be tracking it. 997 is a more direct and analog driving experience. Alternatively, if you are seeing this car as a daily and have a longer commute, the ftype can make great sense. The ZF 8-speed gearbox is proven, and it does what you want and expect it to do when driven hard, but also very comfortable in stop and go traffic.

There is almost no trunk space. Check that before you sign the check. And they're depreciating nicely...

+1 on the Jag depreciation curve. can't wait to pick one up 50% off in a year or 2 and still under factory warranty

Went on extensive test drives of the 380hp V6 S roadster and coupe before I bought the 997.2.

Positives - sexy styling, intoxicating sound from the V6 (particularly in the Roadster, Coupe sound was quite muted inside) and the V8 S was even better , excellent tuning of the ZF 8 speed, great balance between ride and handling, interior felt "richer" than the 997.2
Negatives - thoroughly impractical in terms of stowage space (particularly the Roadster), no back seat, questionable reliability and build quality, poor dealership experience (even snobbier than Porsche!!!), no aftermarket parts, tied to dealer for replacement parts

For me the back seat was not an absolute deal breaker, but it definitely put a big plus in the Porsche column. In the end, I came to the conclusion that although the Jag would be a very fun toy, the Porsche was a much more practical everyday sports car.

If you replace your 997 with a Jag F Type you will be unhappy.

Jag F type is very pretty but if you want something more exotic for less money look at the new Shelby GT350 (if you can find one).

None of these cars can replace the Porsche, only purchase if you can afford to keep the 997.

What not to like about the F-Type V6S, sound incredible, look exotic, and drive comfortable for city commute. Since you're already have a track car, I would definitely get the F-Type. If I don't need the back seat for my wife and kids, I woulda trade my C63 for F-Type long time ago. I said go for it and post some pix.
