Default Why I got a backup camera installed on the 997.2

With no wipers, and because its a Targa so there's the whole summer, roof back issue... but when its a light drizzle and you want to back out of a parking space, the camera is SOOOO much better than the back window....

Was this aftermarket? and if so, how did you do it?

Please share the name of that camera (maybe also parking sensors?) and where did you get it. I was looking for something like that in a while.

Soze, did you happen to have a mk5 GTI by any chance? I still have mine and I remember a 'Soze' from the Golfmk5 forums. I'm Ronan1 over there.

Interested in the camera solution too!

Yup, that would be me. I sold off the GTI. 997.2 is my daily now.

Cool. Would like to know how you got the camera to display on the factory screen.

Nice - I've a 997.2 C4S as my half-daily with the Mk5 serving for other half of my daily driving.

Minok has been trying to find a solution to this for the longest time. Now he has it. And looks great... Everyone will be anxiously waiting for the ingenious or very expensive solution

I'm guessing this must have been his April fools joke...

This was first reported in a thread back in Jan. It's a NavTV unit with a rear license place mounted camera. $1650 (parts plus 2-3 hours of installation) in the Seattle area (there also was a comparable quote of $1100 in NOVA).

I'm curious to know if the NavTV unit can channel any arbitrary video input to the PCM3 screen, and not just for reverse -- so that I can have my phone's navigation on PCM.
