Default A drive followed by a DRIVE

My wife, 89 year old mother-in-law, and I drove to Chicago for a weekend in a sedan. We returned at 5pm on Sunday and it was sunny and almost 70 outside. I knew I would be picking up carryout around 6:30 for our dinner so it seemed like the perfect time for a one hour fun top down drive. When I came home my mother-in-law laughed and said " you drove 300 miles, came home, and went out for a drive. Wow."
I replied that driving the C2S was more like riding my bicycle( I am an avid cyclist) than driving. She immediately understood.

Similarly, I had spent 10 days in So CA tending to some family affairs, drove the 400 miles home. The next day took the GTS out on a 2-hour backroads drive to get the cobwebs out. Nothing like it to do the job!!

Driving the P car is definitely therapeutic and vastly different than driving one of the dailies. I often take it out just to wind it up and unwind my brain.

Totally agree. I have a 37 mile loop here that I ride my Cannondale on and it is a lot the same feeling. The big difference is a Cheeseburger and Fries are not as satisfying after a 911 run.

WOW, a 300 mile drive with three adults in a 997... Boy, I certainly hope that both your wife and MIL are petite ladies!

I just came back from Kona, HI a few days ago for our annual spring break. I always bring my bike (also a cyclist), riding every day at dawn. As soon as I got home, first thing I did was start the Porsche.

I mean the part about the car since personally I don't know if I would want to go for a 300 mile "drive" with my MIL in the back...

Did you climb Kohala? Queen's Highway (19) to Kawaihai Rd. (19) to Kohala Mountain Rd. (250) down to Hawi and back towards Kona via Kohala-Kawaihai Rd. (250) and then Queen's Highway. One of my favorite climbs, more than Ventoux and a little less than the Col de Madeleine.

Our place is in Waikoloa resort, so did kind of the reverse - Up 19 to 270 to Hawi, down 250 to Waimea, and down 190 back to Waikoloa village, then back to the resort. About a 125 km day.

Sorry for the rabbit trail!
