Default BMW of West Houston 05' 997

Hey guys,
Is there anyone local to the Houston area that has checked this car out? It a 2005 black cabrio that been on their lot since January. The priced has dropped, so it looks like a fair deal with a few cosmetic issues. Since a cab is not my first choice, so I'm having a hard time justifying flying down to see it. But if it's a solid car, it could be of some interest. Their website pics aren't the greatest, not were the ones the rep sent to me from his iPhone. Sometimes it just hard to tell without actual eyes on.

If you have any info, please pass it my way....thanks!
Jeff

Actually, it looks like a May 2005 production date.... probably the only reason why I'm consider this '05.

I think I looked at that car. It wasn't priced to sell given how it looked. If ta the one I'm thinking of, it had hideous wheels. And the interior was jacked up. Convertible top was torn. I looked at it for like 10 minutes and passed.

I just checked the website. It was that car. I wouldn't waste time on it unless the continue to come down on price.

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed, eyes to see it in person. Saves me the time, expense and disappointment of a PPI and flight down. This forum is the best!

Bad information right here. The 2005 is the only IMS that can be upgraded easily - the later years require an engine teardown. I have 83,670 miles on a 2005 997S launch edition - many people here with well over 100,000 miles on theirs. Local car in town had 259,000 miles on original engine.

Having said that sounds like the car you are looking at is a mess in other regards and if true I would pass.

I think if you budget a few grand into the deal, this is actually a good thing since you can upgrade to a bombproof kit.

Sounds like the car is a pos so never mind

If you want, I can go take another peek this weekend. Thy might have reconditioned it. But there's a reason it's priced so low with under 70k miles.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass. Just looking at the pics, it appears to need new gauge cluster (clock non functional), cup holder and driver seat repair. Add that to the top issues and replacement wheels.....that's an easy $2000. Plus I don't trust to drive it home, so add another $500 for transport. Guess I'll keep looking.

Thanks again.
