Default Black Wax for Black cars

Folks,

I was wondering what kind of wax you are using for your black cars. Does anybody use black wax? How does it compare with regular liquid wax?

Thanks
Yves

I only use BlackFire products. If you do a search on the detailing forums you will see how highly regarded it is for black cars.
I'll try and find some pics to share also.

I have used Zymol Carbon and it is great, but it is quite an ordeal with the HD Cleanse step.

Klasse sealant glaze, gives you a mirror like shine and last longer than your traditional carnauba wax.

The three best black 911's I've seen all had one thing in common: Griot's Best of Show.

I had a black corvette previously and tried everything I could to keep the paint right. Zaino worked best for me, but everyone has a favorite.

Menzerna line - have used Klasse in the past but find Menzerna offers a broader product line and their final sealant, the Power Lock, is easier to use than Klasse's sealant glaze

I use this black spray detailer on my red car too. It's excellent.

In fairness Yves there are a couple things to keep in mind. One being, what is your preference? Carnauba waxes tend to yield a buttery look in which the surface of the car almost seems to disappear. This is especially true of black cars, especially if they are clayed and highly polished. The three best looking black 911's I mentioned earlier, all three were like this. They were at concours events where I was judging and looking for faults like chips or scratches, only the finish was so perfect I found my eyes would focus on trees, clouds, anything reflected by the car but not the actual surface of the paint. A speck of dust would land, oh there's the surface! I can practically see people rolling their eyes, but I asked around, I wasn't the only one having this "problem". Please understand, I'm talking about a very high level of preparation. Like I said, the three best ever. Out of thousands.

You asked about the best wax, but others are mentioning all kinds of things that are not wax. In general, all these other things are alike in that the produce a hard glass-like reflection. People who prefer these tend to say things like they make the car "pop". As if it were a balloon, I guess. They do indeed make the car stand out. You asked about wax but sometimes people say "wax" meaning, well who knows. Main thing is what is your preference? Soft, deep and buttery or "pop"?

The other big thing, since you're talking about colored wax, is some (maybe a lot) of the appeal comes from people who really are less concerned with a concours winning gleam than getting the job done fast and easy. If they leave some behind, oh well, hard (they say to themselves) to notice. Hopefully you're not one of those. The other smaller group has noticed some waxes do tend to impart a bit of their base color to the finished waxed car. In that case, there are quite a few outstanding waxes. But no way around it, you will just have to try them out and see for yourself.

Or take the easy way out and just use Best of Show.
