Default 2006 Carrera S. What to look at when buying?

I am looking at one with 25k miles but it has had four owners and no service records. The car is in mint shape. It has been in a few different states also, is there a way to at least get the service history when it was still under warranty or would I have to track down each dealer and try to get the info? What should I be looking at when looking at this car.....is the IMS still a issue like they are on the 996?

Here are the options on the car.
06,267,342,403,446,640,670,680,998,b4,p01,xaa,xcz,xlf,xsc.
The sport shifter, sport exhaust, sport seats and sport chrono I am happy with.Is it missing any of the must haves on a 997 S? I am not sure what already comes on the Carrera S that is not included on the Carrera?

Check the ims settlement paperwork to confirm whether or not your vin is included. You might be out of the time period based on in service date. I think it's only 25% even if you are covered.

Get a ppi. You probably can't get service records due to privacy concerns unless you know someone.

I just looked at the settlement and unless I am reading it wrong this VIN looks not affected? WP0AB29956S741219. So if a car is affected by the settlement and it still has the original IMS they will only pay 25% of the upgrade or did the motor have to fail and they will pay 25% of the repair?

Not included in the list doesn't mean it's not affected. It could be that particular car might be one that can't be repaired. And the way I've heard it - if the car is in the VIN list, and the engine blows within 10 years, you would get 25%. (because aren't the original owner). Someone else might know better.

So with all these engine problems you would think nice low miles ones would be worth $20k and not $40k? It almost seems I should be looking for a high mile one to buy cheap so I can just rebuild the motor so I don't fear driving it?

Previous owner privacy precludes dealers disclosing work. I am going through this on mine now. I dont understand how carfax gets info.

I don't think we have a documented failure in a 2006 911 ask per our thread in the 997 section. So I wouldn't sweat it. Options look good, especially sport exhaust. You aren't missing out on anything here.

It has a AERO kit also. You can tell just with one look that the car is well care for. Carrera white is also why I like this car. What is the real market on these cars now?

If you can get one to do it...$200-400. I had two different P dealers say no thank you in Ca. Had to get one from am Indy. PPI with DME report, paint check, car fax, CLUE report. give the VIN to your local dealer, they should be able to pull up its service history.

Thats about all you can do.

Aerokit cars are hard to find and probably demands a bit more because of it. Personally, I wouldn't buy one w/o it. It's usually a couple of grand more and if you buy one w/o it, it'll cost you $5,000 plus, for parts, paint, and installation. Carfax should have some service records, maybe the previous owners saved all their service receipts. I have all mine from the previous owner and I save all mine for the next owner. Mid 40's sounds reasonable to me. I wouldn't worry about IMS issues for an 06' model 997. It's as rare as seeing a unicorn. And it's not part of any IMS settlement, only the 05' were. Good luck in your search, post some pics, maybe a forum will recognize the car and know the history.

no matter what a used car looks like you have to have it inspected, in this case by a dealer, which should be able to look up any of the porsche docs about it. Look at the carfax, porsche service history, they have what was done under warrantee. If you find the cities it was owned you may be able to find dealers that serviced it.
compare alot on the blue book values. And look at the title to make sure it doesnt have any re title history.
