Default Gundo Fabspeed maxflow mufflers

Has anyone gundo their fabspeed max flow mufflers? I feel my car is way too quiet with the maxflow mufflers, header,200 cell cats x pipe. I'm looking for a more raw Porsche sound but not bypass sound type, will I loose horsepower?

I would not do it. I think you are messing with a design that has been engineered by people who know exhausts better than the both of us.

If you needs more raw sound, consider cat bypass in lieu of the cat x pipe.

And if you decide to go that direction, I would be a buyer of the cat x pipe (assuming it fits a 997.1)

Blah blah blah blah... there's too many scared people on this forum. If nobody has Gundo'd a Fabspeed muffler... try it and report back on he results. If you don't like it... cut off the bypass and resume life.

Crester,
You read my mind, I'm going to weld the 2" pipes my self n if I don't like I'll just cut them off.

Something else I thought of is... according to your logic... even changing the x-pipe would be "messing with a design that has been engineering by experts...".

Designing an entire exhaust system takes expertise... but minor changes do not.

Sounds like a plan! I think the Fabspeed mufflers are same design as OEM... they just changed the internal configuration of how the baffles/sound reducing material are inside. But the concept of allowing exhaust flows to partially bypass the muffler should work exactly the same as if you did it to an OEM muffler.

Fabspeed gets there through trial and error.

GO AND DO LIKEWISE.

I believe a gundho hack is essentially a permanent PSE bypass path that becomes controlled by the vacuum valves on the OEM mufflers and the Fabspeed valvetronic versions. Check out what their Valvetronic setup looks like and that may guide you on what the pipe path and attachment points should look like.

I guess it is worth a try.

Personally I would not screw around welding pipe to $1,800 maxflos but rather experiment on a $250 set of OEMs. That is just my opinion.

Let us know how it turns out.

It's already been done to OEMs and we know how it sounds.

I definitely want to hear how this comes out. Maybe it'll transform your maxflow's to Fabspeed's supercup version.

I already did gundo to my own mufflers sound was great , after installing maxflow it completely made my car quiet , so In now getting ready to weld 2" ss pipes to the max flows, I think it will sound better and hopefully not like the super cups!! I'll keep ppl posted when completed

Petza,

I think once I'm done welding the pipes I will then have a fixed valvetronic exhaust!!
