Default 09 Carrera 4s pricing help

Hi everyone,

Long time lurker, finally posting. I'm looking at an 09 C4S black, standard ventilated seats, sport chrono, Bluetooth, nav, 19" sport wheels in black. 18k miles. Im still waiting for the build sheet from the seller so Ill update once I get it. Car looks to be in great condition. Will do a PPI if we reach an agreement.

Anyhow, can anyone tell me what the purchase or asking prices have been recently?

Also, I can't seem to PM anyone, is this because of a certain minimum posts required? Thanks for the help. I look forward to contributing soon!

What is the VIN? The low miles is going to drive up the price. A very similar car with PDK sold for $45k with 38k miles.

A 4S? Are you sure? Because All the 4S's with that amount of miles are typically $55k. A base car with 38k miles is typically about $45k.

$53-$57k is about average for a car with under 20,000 miles

The car was listed as a 4S but was a 2S. It was sold at Ford dealer (they didn't know) in Mississippi one month ago.

2S probably 48-53k roughly. Depends on who is selling it and the options. And just look on cars.com for current asking prices.

FWIW, I got my 2009 Launch car:

2009 C4S
23k miles
PDK
GT2 Buckets
SPASM
ETC

for $53k a couple months ago. I'd say that is the absolute bottom range of a 2009 with low miles.

For the car you're looking at:
$53k or less = smoking deal
$55k-$56k = Solid deal
$57k-$58k = Probably the fair price
$>58k = Might be worth looking longer

You got a great deal, especially with the GT2 buckets!

I agree with your pricing above and I'll add that the last two years I was looking at prices pretty closely and they dipped nov-feb then all the sudden jumped back up in march-june. In other words, a car that sells for $53 in January might sell for $55-58 in May. This has been my experience from watching the market the past 2.5 years. Of course this year could be different with the stock market down and used 991s becoming more reasonable. Who knows?!?!?

If you like the car, buy it!

The 2009's are depreciating pretty slow right now, its looks like a great time to pick one up

Thanks Blu311. I was assuming I'd get a C2S but found my C4S at that price. Couldn't resist. I actually thought I'd sell the seats before I got the car, but once I sat in them I decided to keep them. They're incredibly comfortable.

I think both you guys are correct with regards to pricing trends. As weather gets nicer, prices will usually go up a bit. There also seems to be a sweet spot with used Porsche cars around that 6-7 year old range where the depreciation curve really flattens out. For example, my last car was a 2010 Cayman S. I drove that car for two years and sold it for $1,800 less than I paid for it. I think if you found the right 997.2 car for low-mid 50's you could drive it for four years and sell it for low 40's. So, essentially drive a 911 for around $200 a month.

Let's see, I could drive a stripped down honda civic or a $120k porsche for the same money? Not a hard decision.

I agree with your logic, as long as nothing goes wrong with the car.

Cysco got an amazing deal. I wouldn't assume they are all like that.
For comparison, I paid $70k for my 2010 C4S cab. 16k miles, sport chrono, 6MT, full leather, nav, xenon, Bluetooth, etc. basically everything useful other than PSE... Oh and Turbo wheels. Records, perfect PPI... I probably overpaid a little for the car (bought August 2015), but after my homework I felt I could justify that for a $122k original sticker car. At some point it becomes a question of personal tolerance. I didn't get the deal of the century, but I don't feel like I got completely ripped off either....

FWIW, I paid $55k for my 2009 C4S (reasonably optioned with the $115k window sticker) with 45k miles just over a year ago. One owner, full Porsche service history.

I have been keeping an eye on the prices of these, and it looks like they fluctuate a bit. Cysco did get an amazing deal, I'd love to have those buckets!
