[QUOTE=Enro;13009336] "how and whyit happend is the mistery"
Yes and it is the mystery of why it happened that you need to consider. Bearing/crank like this is usually lubrication failure of some sort, somewhere in the system.
The metal from the damage is somewhere in the engine. What you don't want is to repair broken pieces and then have total engine failure later.
I would look at engine rebuild for peace of mind. Nothing else makes sense imo.
Btw, I am impressed at your skills here. Good luck w this. Post.

Sorry for the delay ... The car has 67,459 miles is a 2005 911 s 3.8
With all its maintenance done at the dealership... Send all the pieces to be cleaned to be sure no particle remains...

Many years ago, I had a newly rebuilt Porsche 914 engine freeze up a rod bearing and seize. Never found out what went wrong. Rebuilt the engine (again) including a complete flush of the engine case. In spite of this, when I did the first oil change on the newly rebuilt motor, there was a huge amount of bearing shavings that showed up in the oil sump screen at the first 500 mile oil change. The point here being that the bearing "shrapnel" goes somewhere, probably inside the oil galleys. In spite of my flushed engine it still remained. You need a full rebuild with a very thorough flush to eliminate the metal particles.
