997.1 to 997.2 LED tail light quick ?
Hello, I have a 2006 997.1 Carrera S, and upgraded the rear bumper to a GT2 version so I could install the LED 997.2 taillights (from about 2009).
I have replaced the rear computer with part number 997.618.260.08 and have confirmed this is the correct module for this upgrade.
Here is where I am on this: The right light comes on, looks great, and blinks fast both on the dash and the light. The left light lights up one time and turns off and does not come back on or light up again unless I turn the lights off and turn back on.
My questions are:
1) do I need to do the pin switch first on the module and will this fix it
2) do I need to rent the Durametric computer to activate LED
Which order? Do both?
I will add, the front park lamps and side marker lamps are currently not installed, but don't think this has anything to do with it.

to add a bit more info:
the right light, which comes on and stays on is labeled TechArt on the back and from what I understand they modified the lights internally to work. I plugged it in on the left side and it stays on constant on that side too, which leads me to believe it's just a programming issue for the non-TechArt left light?

I was wondering if the TechArt light has been modified with an internal resistor or whatever they do to make LED's work on a non-LED car and thus is the problem.
If it's not too much trouble you might switch the rear computer back to the stock one and see if the TechArt light light works properly. Just my $.02.
Cheers

That sounds possible. The conversions that I've seen use OE tail lights and a converter from FVD to make them work properly on the 997.1.

Johhny, It sounds like ALL you have to do is get a durametric pro and change the last setting in your new rear control module (you bought the right one) and adjust the final setting at the bottom.
Your "rear tailghts" i believe is set to "incandescent" (factory default). Needs to be set to "led". What about all the other settings in the new rear module were they not programmed (copying all the old settings over) when you first installed the module ?!???
You DO NOT need to do a pin swap since your car is a non turbo... And you DO NOT need an rear fvd converter (which I beleive is a voltage resistor) since you have the new module that should change the voltage output for your LEDs.
Edit - what I am suggesting is the correct changes required for oem taillight 997.2 conversion.... I had no idea that there is a techart 997.2 taillight (no idea if techart taillight makes a difference)

Attached a screen cap of the rear module change required (last setting)

Thank you for these responses. I just plugged the new module in, but haven't driven the car so I've not changed anything over, nor did i know i needed to, i thought this was just plug and play. I didn't realize i needed a computer screen either?
I need to read more about how durametric pro works i assumed it was a hand held calibration tool with a built in screen for diagnostic.

the durmetric pro (regular durmetric won't help you for what you need) cable plugs into the OBDII port of your car; with the other end plugging into a PC laptop where you can make changes; and monitor the various modules of your car.
before programming your new module; i would advise you to plug your old one back in and take a screen capture of all the settings of your old rear module (997.618.260.04, or 997.618.260.06), and then make sure your new rear module 997.618.260.08 has all the same settings OTHER then the final taillight LED setting.. it can't take more then 2 mins to compare your old vs new settings.
from there your new rear lights should work fine.

Sorry to revive this....
Ive just done the bumper and taillights conversion on my 2009 GT2
All lights working fine when engine off
However when i crank the engine , the rear indicators would not work !! All other lights are fine but no indicators at all on the rears
I have euro tail lights with FVD modules
Anyone got same issue sorted ?
Do i have to mess with harness and coding ? I thought the FVD would make it painless .....
Thanks guys

Fvd adapters. The Fvd adapters don't work with the newer 09+ rear module

So I tried removing the modules. No more lights and fast blinkers + all errors on the dash
I'll try to have the car programmed with the modules. Hoping i dont have to do the pin swap as the car is one of the lasts in my country and is $$$ worth
